I stayed one night at Anker, for a one-day off during my business trip. I liked the hotel and strongly consider staying again if I stay in Lucerne again in the future. Below are my usual pros and cons.
Pros:
(1) Close to the main train station. This is why I picked the hotel. Depending on how fast you can walk but several minutes to 10 minutes walk, with luggage. Makes the hotel very convenient
(2) Very cool boutique atmosphere. See the pictures. The decor is cool, making a guest feeling like living in a cool apartment in Lucerne. Bed is big and comfortable.
(3) Friendly staff. I arrived early in the morning (like 8am), expecting that I just drop off my bag and go sightseeing, and check in later in the afternoon. But I was told when I was having coffee at the cafe in the hotel that a room is ready and my luggage is already in the room! So nice! I asked a receptionist about what to do, and where to eat. I did not agree with the recommendations sometimes and I ended up not taking her suggestions, but they were nice.
(4) Nice cafe / restaurant in the hotel. Reasonably priced. Good coffee. Didn't eat a dinner so I cannot comment on the dinner but the breakfast (included) was good.
(5) Fee photo booths downstairs! Take your pictures for souvenir!
Cons:
(1) Some lights in the room did not work... But it was a minor problem.
(2) As I mentioned, the recommendations for dinner, and what to do (I ended up going to Pilatus but this was not recommended) were not what I agreed. For example, I asked for a authentic regional restaurant, and she recommended a place which did not seem too good form e (pricey and touristic). But this is also minor. She recommended going up to Hotel Chateau Guetsch, which was fantastic!
