We arrived at 9am so nice and quiet, we took our hike up at 9.30, such a beautiful place to visit, we stayed for around 3 hours, visiting the cathedral and stopping off to have a drink in a cafe to cool off. It got very very busy, toilets are €1 which were clean. As we were early we parked only a few minutes walk away.

We arrived at the Campo dei Miracoli (“ Field of Miracles”) just before 10am and it was just starting to get busy at this time. However we managed to get some good and obligatory pics of us and the Leaning Tower.

We had pre booked tickets to enter the Tower at 11am so before that we visited the Doumo and just walked around the area. There are toilets here (€1 payable by card) and you must put any bags etc into lockers provided before you can go up the tower.

The passage way up the tower is relatively steep and narrow but not a particularly hard walk up. The views at the top are somewhat impeded by the high safety fence but it is still cool to climb and visit.

When we were leaving the tower it was just after 11.30am and the area was much busier now so glad we visited early.

I have no idea what the hype is about because it’s just a tower. Don’t visit here if you don’t like history. Anyway, it’s a nice tower.

Naturally being on vacation near the Ligurian coast we just had to drive over to Pisa to view the leaning tower. I guess that it is on most people's bucket lists. We walked from an underground car park some distance away and we knew that we were getting close when we saw an ever increasing number of tourists.

Anyway, we found a convenient spot where we could take our photographs of this impressive tower - all white and leaning quite nicely. I was surprised that you can get up quite close as it sits on a piece of ground which it shares on the Piazza del Duomo/Piazza of Miracles with the wonderful cathedral and the Baptistery of San Giovanni.

We didn't go up the tower but the younger ones in the family had to join the masses taking their photos either trying to straighten the tower or to push is further over. I just loved people watching here to see how people were reacting with each other. Some were kindly waiting patiently for their turn to take a photograph whilst others pushed around assuming that they were the only important people here. Oh well...
