Unless you know and appreciate Puccini's work, you probably won't find much of interest here. Madame Butterfly gowns were spectacular and there is some interesting history tidbits. If you got a some time and you're in the area, it's probably worthwhile, but otherwise don't go out of your way to see it.

Interesting museum set in Puccini’s birth home, with information in Italian and English about his life, family and music including photographs, paintings, letters, manuscripts, costumes, etc.

I would definitely recommend visiting the Puccini museum if one is in Lucca, for sure. For me, the highlights were some libretto drafts on which Puccini had written, a few handwritten notes, the piano on which Puccini composed Turandot, and a fabulous costume from a production of Turandot in a small room to the right of the ticket counter. It is very small (it was, after all, just the family home in which he was born) and doesn't have as many actual artifacts as I was hoping for, but it is great for a quick visit. I think it would be a solid complement to a concert or two (several churches in Lucca host them each evening) and a visit to his villa outside of town.

Lucca was Puccini's birthplace and the museum traces his life in pictures as well as cataloguing his musical accomplishments. The exhibit also includes costumes from a Met production of Turandot and several other operas.
