Owner description: The house where Giacomo Puccini was born in 1858 is now a museum, which houses portraits, scores, sketches and other memorabilia related to this famous composer's life and career.

As Lucca is supposedly all about Puccini, I decided that a visit to Lucca would be not complete without visiting the museum. It was a pleasant introduction to his life & times. It’s nice that it’s set in a house.

I don't identify with the few critical comments about this magical place. Surely it can only be dull if you're not into Puccini and operatics. In which case, why would you go anyway?

It doesn't set out to be an interactive theme park. This is a quiet, contemplative and intimate insight into the great man's life and work. It's the house where he was born and I was totally swept away by the atmospherics. Beautiful costumes, piano, countless scores and handwritten letters. The Turendot costume is amazing.

If you love opera, this is absolutely not to be missed. You will spend a very rewarding hour or so there.

Lucca and Puccini go together. This was a wonderful exhibition portraying some of his original works , some costumes from his well known operas, all housed in this unique second story apartment where he was born. Anyone interested in Puccini should also see the Puccini Exhibition on for a short while in the Via San Micheletto - well worth a visit

I think if we had come here and just had a look around, it would have been a slightly dull half an hour, but we were shown around by “trainee guide”, Carla and she brought the whole experience to life. We loved it and learnt so much about Puccini’s life as a result. Thank you so much for a great visit.

Lucca is proud of Puccini but this museum does not do him justice.Provides a series of snapshots into his life but in no particular order. Could be so much better.
