Spectacular! A must see in Florence. We skipped the line with a guided tour as the wait for tickets was 2 hours. But it still
Would have been worth it.

This is one of the more impressive masterpieces I have seen. Get there on 9.00am as it opens and there are no queues and you will get an uninterrupted view of Michaelangelo's David.

The David statue is outstanding, with muscle and tendon details not visible in other works. I didn't realize this building was constructed especially for the David statue. As such, it does it well, lots of room around the statue, viewing from close up, places to sit and admire it. It also shows partial statue carvings to get an idea of how hard it is to "see" what the artist is trying to visualize. There are other exhibits but they are secondary.

This is where you will see Michaelangelo’s David which is stunning. Book your tickets in advance because they limit the number sold in any given day as the Accademia is relatively small. You will also see many early renaissance paintings.

If this is the only thing you do in Florence, it will be worth it. Seeing the statue of David took my breath away. Get a Firenze pass to skip the line. You can buy it online and pick it up in person. You het to enter the reservation line. Get there early (8am is best), wait fifteen minutes out front, and as soon as you walk I’m go to the back and see Michelangelo’s masterpiece. You will be blown away. We downloaded Rick Steves’ app and listened in awe.
