If you're in Florence then definitely go for a visit as there's alot to see and it's worth your time seeing.

If you get there early (before 9am) the line to get in will be short and you don't have to pay extra to skip the line. All you have to do is eat breakfast a little early. For me this museum is mainly about David and some other sculptures by Michelangelo. Those were the highlights. Even though the rest is interesting, I doesn't come close to the Michelangelo work
Make sure you buy your tickets online before going....this is true for most all the major museums, etc in Italy and we were traveling recently, which is not "high season". You still have to get your tickets before going to the "reserve" line, but it is well worth it.
The museum a traveling display as well as permanent displays. I would guess we were there a couple of hours.( the tour books, don't give it that much time!)
Everything else was beautiful but so repetitive, same sculptures, same paintings over and over. I guess to the trained eye of a connoisseur it’s a slice of heaven, but I saw enough in 15 minutes. The reason this is a 4-star review and not a 3-star is because of the David statue. It’s truly magnificent!
The other cool thing is the hold the line outside and limit the amount of people that go inside to avoid overcrowding. We had reserve tickets (€12) and waited for about 15 minutes. Totally worth it for the extra €4.
Ticket office is located across the street from the gallery.
I enjoyed my visit. The David is really stunning. I also really enjoyed the music instrument exhibit. I would recommend to everyone
Obviously the statue of David is a must-see in Florence. Lots of less known Renaissance works here too. Get a tour to skip the line unless you want wait hours in line.
