Owner description: The view of Mount Etna and the sea beyond is absolutely superb at Taormina's 10,000-seat ancient Greek amphitheater, which was erected in the third century BC and expanded by the Romans.

The Ancient Theatre of Taormina is very well preserved. I enjoyed the video which shows how the theatre looked back in the day- absolutely spectacular. It's rather disappointing that tourists carve their names on prickly pears. It's best to go in spring or autumn as it gets pretty hot during the day.

Got here the day when it was free, saving €10 each. Lovely walk around and the view is fabulous. I think €10 is a bit much but you could spend a good hour there.

I love Greek and Roman architecture. This place is a powerful mix of Greek and Roman building mastery. Walk up the gently rising hill just off the Corso Umberto and climb the stairs to history. Built thousands of years ago it still functions as a performing arts theater. Sit down in the rows of seats and study what the Greeks built, and then what the Romans added. When you are ready walk up the stairs to the top of the theater, turn away from the theater and the views will be breath taking. Do not rush your time in the timeless place, take in the history and the views, it is all worth your time.

Absolutely stunning views along the coast from this phenomenal historic feature. Well worth the entry fee and an hour of wandering.
