Judge Falcone was blown up on his way home from the airport about 25 years ago. The blast was so huge, it made a cater several metres deep which disrupted the motorway double carriageway. On the site of the explosion, two columns stand to remind the sacrifice of this judge who was the scourge of the Sicilian Cosa Nostra.

Striking monument by the cruise terminal. A reminder of past times. A drive by really as it's in the middle of a roundabout.

Perfect example how can an organism win so much space for some people or group's benefits.
RIP mr. Falcone.

This two columns made by red marble wants commemorate the most terrible murder made by mafia.
The judge Giovanni Falcone and his security team was killed by a bomb blast placed below the highway.
This blast was the non returning point of the mafia escalation.
Our life definitively changed but attitude still remains somehow.
A pray for those victims and their families

This gets five points simply for being here. Judges Falcone and Borsellino (after whom the airport is now named) were blown up and killed by the mafia on this stretch of the autostrada. So as you drive between airport and city, you will go through Capaci - watch out for this evidence that Sicily is fighting back!
