Description: The Osteria Caffe Monte Baldo, owned in Verona by the renowed "Oste" Gianni Vesentini is a traditional "lively osteria", close to the distinguished "Piazza delle Erbe". The irresistible mix of "tartine" (tapas) and the delicious smell of the just cutted Parma ham, served with genuine Italian and Veronese wines from dozens of bottles lined up on a long marble counter, make this place a required stop in Verona either you are Local or tourist. The selection of daily pasta and risotti dishes (including the classic lasagna alla Bolognese) proposed at an affordable prices and tasty antipasti like polpette(meatballs) and sopressa (local salami), allow Caffe Monte Baldo to be your place in Verona from late morning to an informal aperitivo time and a delicius, traditional dinner .Osteria Caffe Monte Baldo closed on Monday

Found this place mentioned in several articles so, although not in my initial choices for our trip, we actually went along to have a look in advance (old Verona is very small, nowhere is more than 15 minutes away). The place & menu seemed good so we booked for that evening (also unusual for us). Nice greeting, dodged attempts to put us upstairs (I had asked for a table on the ground floor when booking). Ordered drinks, starters and checked out the menu. After we ordered mains things went awry. A different waiter took over. Starters arrived, one very good, one so-so to our tastes. After plates were cleared we waited .... and waited. Eventually it became clear the first staff member had forgotten to put the order for our mains through. We had to re-order, which obviously then meant more time to cook. Again, once arrived, one good and one (horsemeat on polenta mush/mash) not so good. The mix-up was unfortunate and, once clear to the staff it had spoilt the evening for us they got the boss over. She was charming and very apologetic but, given they charge a bit more here than similar establishments, I agree with earlier reviewers. Come for drinks/snacks/chicetti but find somewhere else for dinner.

Had lunch here recently and must say I like the subtle change. Wine and staff still excellent, food choices have been reduced, although we found food quality very good. Prices are still fair. Great atmosphere and short walk from favorite gelateria.

I ate several happy meals at Caffe Monte Baldo when I visited Verona several years ago. But sadly when we had dinner here recently, the food was truly mediocre. There used to be several vegetarian options but now there are just two, both vegan. I think the restaurant hates vegans because the food was almost devoid of flavour. One is cabbage stuffed with mashed potato, which is about as interesting as it sounds, and the other is bean soup. The Campari was still good, I’m happy to report!

We have visited Osteria Caffe Monte Baldo with my wife while taking a walk in the beautiful city center of Verona. We sit and take our Prosecco then see that they have traditional onion soup for the meal of the day. Although it was 11:45, the owner was very kind to ask to the kitchen if the soup is ready. I believe it is one of the best onion soups I have ever tasted in my life. So I decided to write another review of this place. Thank you for the delicious tartine and excellent onion soup.

We were looking forward to eating here on our last night in Italy- the reviews of the food and ambience were excellent and we had booked weeks in advance. Disappointed to be ushered upstairs to a quiet room for i stranieri despite the free tables downstairs. Combined with the brusque and unfriendly waitress and grumpy greeting at the door the experience was soured. Sure Verona has lots of tourists but Italy has a great tradition of hospitality and good food. Not our experience on that night, rather one of xenophobic disdain and in the end average food.
