And that’s how brilliant my meal was at Maffei recently. It was great enough to overcome the vilest, rudest, crudest couple in the Western World (I was unhappily paired with them during a tour.)
My pasta starter of maccheroncini with prawns and zucchini ragout was rich and luscious. This was followed by a dish I’ve always wanted to try: braised beef cheeks in an equally rich and luscious gravy reduction.
Something light for dessert certainly? Why yes! A frothy tangerine sorbet did the trick. Heaven. In fact, that describes my experience at Maffei, despite the hell of the aforementioned dinner companions.
Sometimes one must suffer for one’s pleasures.
