I assume, like the majority, I was looking forward to my visit. However, it was a bit of a disappointment. There were 2-3 waiters by the entrance, will only show you the way if you asked. I suppose they probably get lots of tourists just wonder around. Anyway, our waiter literally just showed us where to sit. There were no other friendly words. After that, you wait a bit for your coffee and cake, look around with others who got the same kind of ‘why am I here’ look .. waited again to pay the expensive bill.. the building was nice.. but your are not touring in it. After we left, there are other cafe which offer free music just few doors away with some happy smiley customers in..
I suggest unless is a quite day ( aka probably low season) you may have a different feel..

Visited while in St Marks square, we knew it was pricey as we had checked on the internet beforehand so we were prepared to pay. We were seated inside the café and ordered a drink each and a dessert which were very good. Costs 90 ish euros for 3 coffees and 3 desserts. Also charged 6 euros each for the orchestra which are playing outside which was a bit of a cheek. Overall a good experience whilst in Venice.

This is an interesting place from historical point of view, but it is awful expensive. Go there have a look and drink your coffe where you can get more for your money

We knew from past travellers what to expect from this establishment especially regarding cost but.........hey........when in Venice ! We had 1coffee=10 Euros,1 chocolate= 10 Euros and 6 Euros EACH to listen to the band play!!!!!!!!! ( no choice) What we didn’t anticipate was the terrible shouting match between an elderly gentleman and one of the waiters. The waiter was incredibly rude and shouted for a while even though the gentleman asked him “please do not shout at me!” we were sat very close to this and it was extremely embarrassing........ even when the gentleman left, the waiter still persisted shouting as he told his colleagues.

They basically serve sandwiches and drinks and it was expensive. But went there and ate at night. The square was lit up, the had an orchestra playing, was worth the price of admission to go once.
