this cosy restaurant is located in the Ghetto Novo of Venice. We dined there numerous times, never repeating the dishes. Service was impeccable, presentation prizewinning, main dishes done perfectly, deserts both traditional and original. A bit pricey, but worth it. If you're kept waiting, expect a dish of ice-cream or some other delicacy for your patience!

This charming kosher dairy restaurant has a lovely menu, delicious food, and a lovely al fresco dining area. We found the food well-prepared, fresh, and nicely presented. We look forward to returning!

The first night we ate here they had just finished cleaning up after 160 person group (without a reservation) had dropped in for lunch. As a result, some of their staff was gone (having been sent home by the owner as a humanitarian gesture), and some of the menu items were sold out.

However, with the owner (Sylvie) and one waiter serving all the tables that evening, what the service may have lacked in speed, the delicious food was well worth the wait.

We loved it so much that we decided to come back the following day for dinner as well. When we arrived, the owner recognized us and greeted us like old friends... and even reminded us of the menu items we had asked for the previous evening that were now available.

The staff has no problem with letting you linger over your meal and drinks in this secluded corner of the Ghetto. On the second night, we were among the last to leave, and the owner chatted with us about life in Venice as we stood next to the restaurant's water gate admiring her boat.

We even ordered a club sandwich for the following day's train ride to Rome, and it was well packaged for travel and delicious.

I am very much a meat and potatoes guy, but when it comes to Venice, I felt no need to explore any other restaurant other than Ghimel Garden.

We will certainly be back!

We wanted a break from seafood and we picked this place after checking their menu online. The place is very pleasant and quiet but the food was terrible. A bunch of things on the menu were finished as they had a large group of people, we ordered the Vip antipasti platter that came with some very tiny falafels, stale pita bread, hummus and babaganush. One of the elements was missing and i asked the waitress about it. She said they had run out (and hoped we didn't noticed?!). The house wine was corked, they promptly replaced it. In the end we had the antipasti platter, one side dish of spinach, water and half a litre of wine and sent 40 euros. Total rip off, below average food. Stay away!

We ordered an appetizer with a variety of Mediterranean food such as hummus, babaganoush, falafel, etc. which was very good. For my main course I got a dish with vegan balls and rice with caramelized onions that tasted excellent. I highly recommend this place.
