Fantastic Hotel, Spotlessly clean with friendly staff, if you get the water bus from the airport it stop's outside the hotel so really easy for transfer. St Mark's square is a five minute walk away. Great job thanks for a nice stay.

Hotel paganelli is very cozy clean and extremely well situated hotel. The staff is very curtious and pleasant.Breakfast is very good and we loved staying here.Just in front of the hotel is the water bus stop. St .Marks square is just 10 minutes walk .The location is suitable for all. We will come here again.

The location of this hotel is great. Just far enough away from all the congested areas, and you get to walk out in the morning to see the open water. We got the courtyard room, which I wouldn't recommend as it is where the staff go and can get noisy with dishes and washroom use. The hotel also didn't have a good map of the city, so don't count on that map if you are wanting to get around...bring your own. The rooftop could have been nicer, wasn't as nice as what the pictures looked like. Also the bar was closed, and when we asked why, they didn't know. So I guess it is only open when they feel like setting it up. So we were disappointed that we had to go somewhere else.

Stayed here recently for three nights. Hotel ideally located on the main walkway of Venice, within 100 steps of the Zaccaria Waterbus stop.

We were in the annex of the hotel, which is just around the corner from main hotel. The Annex holds the bar & restaurant so perfect.

Room was spotless & well maintained. The breakfast was continental buffet with plenty of choice.

Also the hotel is within walking distance of all the main tourist areas and has no steps or bridges for people to manoeuvre. This is an important fact when considering booking a hotel in Venice.

As the hotel is on the Main Walkway it is also easier to find should you go astray on the many little walkways & bridges around.

Overall would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Venice.

Hotel Paganelli is very conveniently located across from the San Zaccaria vaparetto stop. If you arrive at the Santa Lucia train station, rather than exiting from the front of the building, look for an exit to the left with a sign for wheelchair accessibility as it has a gently sloping ramp to the front of the building. Buy a multi-day vaparetto pass (30 Euros for 48 hours) because a single vaparetto ride to Hotel Paganelli will cost 7.50 Euros pp. You can then use the multi-day vaparetto pass to visit San Giorgio church, Murano & Burano.

Hotel Paganelli is right at San Zaccaria vaparetto stop which also has the Alilaguna boat stop to/from the airport. It is literally 2 bridges (2-3 min walk) to San Marco Square with the San Marco basilica, Doge's Palace, and Correr Museum. As you walk towards San Marco Square, you pass the Bridge of Sorrows. Riva Degli Schiavoni is a wide pedestrian walkway, but it is very crowded during the day with large tour groups. If you stroll along Riva Degli Schiavoni away from San Marco for about 3-5 min walk, you will end up in the quieter section. At Via Garibaldi there is a Co-op supermarket, restaurants, bars and more reasonably priced gelaterias. For Canadians, look at a plaque on the building at the entrance to Via Garibaldi, where John Cabot is mentioned as a Venetian who discovered Newfoundland in his service to King Henry VII of England.

TO THE HOTEL from TRAIN STATION: Take Vaparetto #1 or the express Vaparetto #2 from Santa Lucia train station for a 45 min cruise down a portion of the Grand Canal to San Zaccaria stop where Hotel Paganelli is located. San Zaccaria stop is 1 hour 15 min boat ride (Alilaguna 15Euros pp one-way) to Venice's Marco Polo airport.

HOTEL & ANNEX BUILDING: Hotel Paganelli has the main building and an annex building. Room 121 is located in the annex building where guests have their free breakfast. Room is only 9x10 feet so very small. The 2 twin beds were pushed up against each other and there was only one night stand, a small closet with in-room safe, a small desk & chair with electric kettle & 2 mugs, small empty fridge, tv, aircon/ heater that only stayed on for maybe 10 seconds, and 2 windows overlooking a side street that can be opened. Unfortunately the Annex building is over a bar-restaurant so you can hear the music and conversations until it closed around 11pm on a weeknight. Suggest wearing earplugs even though the 2 windows in the room are closed. Room 121 appears to have been renovated about 2-3 years ago, and was clean.

Room 121's bathroom was about 9x3 feet with a walk-in shower, toilet, bidet and sink. No exhaust fan but there is a window you can open.

Fortunately we brought only two 22 inch rolling luggage + 2 small backpacks. We placed one luggage on the luggage rack available in room, and the second luggage on the chair. I don't believe the room can easily accommodate large luggage as there was barely enough room to walk around our 2 small ones.

There is a tiny elevator in the annex building so we were able to get to Room 121 without having to haul our luggage up a flight of stairs.

Room Tip: Rooms with view in the main building. Annex does not & is noisier with bar-restaurant, but convenient for breakfast.
