This was just around the corner from our VRBO rental and we popped in on a cold evening without a reservation. It was one of our favourite restaurants during our 3-week trip to Italy - we went twice. The service was attentive and the food was fabulous. My lasagna was the best I've ever had and the deep fried calamari was spectacular, especially with the drizzled balsamic vinegar on itr. The tiramisu was the creamiest we had in Italy.

We visited Ristoteca Oniga on recommendation from our concierge at our hotel. We have walked by it multiple times- it is right in the way from Accademia to Camp Santa Margherita in Dorsoduro. Our concierge called ahead and they had a table set aside for us. We were immediately seated and given menus. We ended up ordering the house wine (although they had a great wine list as well), the gnocchi, Branzino, lasagna bolognese, and the mussels and clams. Everything was wonderful! The gnocchi is particular was to die for - service was wonderful and the seafood was excellent quality. We did see a neighbor get the seafood and pasta to share (between 2 people) and that looked like a wonderful option as well. When we got there they were very busy but started slowing down around 9:00. Prices were very reasonable for Venice. A wonderful location that is easy to get to and great food! Can’t wait to go back!

A nice restaurant with accommodating and in-obtrusive staff offering good value. Open on Sundays and popular with locals.

The octopus was excellent along with the pastas. Staff is super friendly and food was excellent. Off the beaten path but excellent find. Lamb was tender and wonderful.

The location is very quaint and the staff is friendly and polite. The food came very fast and presentation was nice.

Regarding the meals themselves:

° creamy cod was too creamy

° octopus was a bit tough.

° they did not have TYPICAL italian sorbetto

However the house Prosecco was excellent and the strudel was nice.
On the whole, even though the meal was not a disaster per se, it did not.merit the €106 we paid (2 persons) and we probably will not return any time soon in the future.
