We found this restaurant by accident. It's on the south side of Dorsoduro looking out over the channel to Giudecca and near the Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute.
Despite having no booking, we were given a seat with shade overlooking the channel.

We had scallops for starters and for the mains we had roast octopus and red snapper. The red snapper was presented in what I can only describe as large ravioli parcels made from black rice with a red snapper filling. They were very crispy and tasted superb. The octopus was cooked to perfection. We shared a dessert and it was more than sufficient for two people.

The wine list was extensive to put it mildly and many wines were at stratospheric prices. We choose a reasonably priced Sansonina Lugana that complemented our seafood.

The weather was perfect for outdoor eating, even though it was October and the whole lunch was a wonderfully relaxing experience. It is not an inexpensive place to eat, but is good value for money in our view and the excellent food and excellent service make us give it full marks.

Lineadombra has creative and tasty offerings, great and distinguished wines (even by the glass - a rarity). It is located in Dorsoduro across the Grand Canal from Piazza San Marco (swt. Mark's) and more specifically directly across the Grand Canal from the Doge's Palazzo there.

Service is friendly and very attentive. English is spoken by some. The contemporary dishes are based on tradition and are delicious. The offerings change frequently according to whatever is freshest. Everything was absolutely scrumptious and I would not allow them to remove my Too large primi dish since I wanted to take a few more bites along with my secondi or entree.

You may choose to dine inside or outside. The latter is much better. It is a glass walled deck jutting out over the Giudecca canal with incredible views of Venice and the lasgoon.

Access: Take the #1 vaporetto to the Salute stop, then walk around the point and about 100 meters further on you will find Lineadombra.

Not cheap, but worth the money and a great place to treat yourself. Had a wonderful meal, perfect outdoor table right by the water. Excellent food, especially if you like fish. Everything we had (even the pasta) felt light and flavourful. A lot of the wines are outrageously priced, but we asked our waiter to recommend something in the lower price range, and it was no problem. Service was professional, and our waiter even took time to come and point out the red moon on the horizon to make sure we wouldn't miss the view. Would definitely go back.

You will struggle to find a better location, the food was superb (we had seafood starter and octopus main). Only downside was the service which was a little ‘cold’.

Went to this restaurant based on recommendations and hotel support.

Amazing setting, with wonderful moonlight views.

Food and service great and all fish courses were as described.

Lovely evening, but impenetrable wine list - pages and pages and pages made that bit a little daunting! Especially the price of some of them!

But would highly recommend for supper.
