I stayed here for two nights at the start and end of a holiday to meet some old Italian friends, both times I was a solo female just looking for a place to rest after a late flight and before an early one
The good;
Very close to the train station so convenient.
Elevator to the floor - very old, tiny and creaky which I personally loved, but might not be for the claustrophobic - maybe put your luggage in it and walk if you are!
Quite cheap - but only in terms of Milan!
Very friendly and sweet night concierge
Room had towels, a sink and bedding, very basic but clean and comfortable.
A great Italian restaurant almost underneath the hotel who were nice enough to make me a takeaway at a very late hour and gave me a bottle of beer and water after a long day's travelling.
Free WiFi.
Free coffee out in the tiny reception area (quite often full of Italian men chatting and relaxing)
The bad -
Toilets are shared for most rooms and are a bit grim. They work though, which is good enough for me.
Paper thin walls, so the Italian couple who arrived home in the wee hours and proceeded to have an enormous row, which escalated into shouting for 45 minutes was a very unpleasant experience. Paper thin walls, so the Italian couple who arrived home in the wee hours and proceeded to have an enormous row, which escalated into shouting for 45 minutes was a very unpleasant experience. I asked twice for the concierge to speak to them, which to be fair he did, but not very forcibly (I could hear him too). Only after 3 rooms came out, a man shouted at the concierge and the row sounded like it has escalated into either thrashing furniture or him hitting her were they separated and given a room each. Peace returned after, but I had to be up 1/2 hour later for my flight so my second night here was completely sleep - less.
I wouldn't venture much further than the hotel as the immediate area isn't fantastic, however, by day I found that it was a short walk from a bustling shopping area, but bizarrely everything closed by 10pm.
I would recommend only for a dashing money conscious traveller, which is what I was and other than the noise it would have been perfectly adequate.More
