We arrived at the hotel after a five hour drive and train ride on a sweltering hot day. The staff at reception was very professional. Although the room was on the small side, this was to be expected in an inner city hotel, it was very comfortable. The buffet breakfast was excellent. The rest of the hotel was very elegant, and the free wifi and computer rooms were models of efficiency. We were very pleased with our stay and was able to walk to Central Station for the train to the airport the following.

Fontana-GM, Direttore generale at Hotel Berna, responded to this reviewResponded August 7, 2015

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for having stayed at Hotel Berna and are pleased you appreciated the professionalism of our staff.

Concerning our location, we understand that somebody don’t like the surrounding area of the train station, but we consider our location our point of strength: close to the main train central station, the air-terminal to the airports and the tube station. This area is considered to be a perfect base for visiting Milan. We are in a street of 12 family run hotels and the neighbourhood - and the hotel itself - are safe and tranquil and near to other 45 hotels (3, 4 and 5 star), with many restaurants in close proximity too. The Duomo is only 4 stops away. Corso Buenos Aires, the longest shopping street in Milan, is at only 10 minute walking distance.

We are very glad you liked the general quality of our services and our breakfast buffet.

Hoping to welcome you again at Hotel Berna

I spent one night, from 11th to 12th July 2015 in this lovely hotel. The reception was friendly and very professional. We were amazed about how short is the distance from the station to Hotel Berna. Something very special and pleasant is that you can fill out a form for the online-reservation, which you can determine how the room temperature should be, what for drinks should be in the fridge, what kind of pillows, toilet paper, etc .... We were allowed to choose anything at no extra charge. The breakfast was just awesome! This selection of fine treats! The staff was very nice! We definitely come back to this hotel on our next trip Milano! :-)

We really love this little hotel which is not far from the Central Station.
i looked at the review before i book. after looking at a few propeties and reviews, i chose Hotel Berna because of the location and good review.
It turned out to be more than i expected. The staff are very helpful and friendly .
you can tell the hotel is under a very good mangement. Very considerate . Tea and coffee making facility, mini bar is free (my children love it) there are even slippers in the room. you cannot get a better hotel with this price and location.
highly recommend .

We arrived earlier than expected from Venezia and were given an upgrade and it was possibly the best of our accommodation in Italy (Roma, Firenze and Venezia - although that is not meant as a criticism of the others by any means). Spacious bathroom attached to a very modern bedroom. Slept well and there were tea-making facilities which we are used to at home. We bought tickets from reception for the Metro, and it's a short trip to the Duomo, Vittorio Emmanuele II and Rinascente. We stayed 2 nights and next time will stay longer. We liked Milan, and it does have a different ambiance to the previous cities I mentioned, but it is very stylish (home of Alfa Romeo after all). (Maybe off-topic: take the train to Varenna, ferry to Bellagio and have lunch, then fast ferry to Como and train back to Milano. Magic.)

We just spent 3 nights at the Berna after a tour through Switzerland. We wanted to be close to the Stazione Centrale & we were. The Duomo is just 4 stops away by metro - very convenient. We would have walked there but it was too hot. Also easy to get to the Expo from here. Staff was friendly & helpful. The breakfast was excellent & we loved having the free soft drinks in the minibar. Our room (309) was one of the larger ones. There were 2 built-in benches for luggage and the bathroom was huge. The a/c worked well & the room, which faced a courtyard, was very quiet. Highly recommend the Berna!

Room tip: Room 309 is larger than most, has 2 luggage benches, and a huge bathroom.
