We arrived at Hotel Berna after a long drive from Vienna. We were road-weary, and the front desk seemed a bit formal. However, they were quite friendly, whisked away our rental car (we never used it in our three days in Milan), and showed us to a moderate sized room. The location of the hotel is not particularly close to tourist sites in Milan, but the Central Station is just a short walk from the hotel. From there, it was easy to go just about anywhere we wished, and the Milano Card that came with our Discover Milan package made getting around quite easy. There was a slight surcharge (about two euros I believe) to get out to Expo 2015 (our main reason for visiting Milan), but otherwise, there was free travel all across Milan.
The breakfast was excellent, and kitchen staff were quite responsive to special requests (decaffeinated cappuccino for my wife), and they remembered them from day-to-day. We appreciated the whimsical twists (a rubber ducky in the bathroom) and the afternoon aperitivo. The room was quiet, and the price was quite reasonable for a fine hotel in a big city.More
