Whilst the Villa might have nice big rooms, we never got to see them. You can see on a front photo of the villa a small squat 1-story outhouse attached to the right hand side of the building (as you look at the front) This is room A6 and this is the room we got, which was not at all like the images shown of the other rooms on the internet. We complained and the woman that showed us the room said she would go and find out. She never came back. I eventually went to find her and she said the hotel was full and we could not change. No apology. It is a poor room for the price, no balcony, small windows, dark and right next to the access gate which you can hear easily from the bed.

In addition the access road is small and steep and only just the width of one vehicle. You would not want to meet someone coming the other way.

Room Tip: Avoid Room A6, the outhouse.

Lovely secluded hotel, with arty decor, in pleasant grounds with a small swimming pool. Breakfast was on the terrazza, but was pretty much standard in quality. Access by car was slightly awkward through a locked gate at the top of a narrow, steep road, but parking was not a problem once inside.

The staff were very helpful, directing us to a wonderful local pizzeria through an adjoining park. Really quite idyllic, with local residents out with their families for a Saturday night meal.

It looks as we would sleep in a castle but finally get a room with low windows and low ceiling and bathroom without a window. The so called park is a beautiful garden with a small swimming pool.

Access road 1.8 meters wide, steeply upward. Suppose you meet an oncoming vehicle: I did. Just stay away from here . Even the people working here are not arriving by car. Electric fire kitchen does not work: after 48 minutes no boiling water for tea . Bathroom without window. No drying rack for towels. No way to get the bedroom dark.

Room Tip: make sure you get a room with balcony and frontview, or select another hotel

My wife and I are frequent visitors to Trieste. This is our third year in a row to stay at the Villa Bottacin. We enjoy it so much that we've ended up staying more days each time we visit. This year we spent 10 days at this small, boutique hotel. We love the beautifully landscaped garden, swimming pool, large terrace for breakfast and the quiet setting in a hill above Trieste. The rooms and studio apartments (with kitchenettes) are very clean. The bathrooms are smallish much like just about every other hotel in Europe. Enhancing our stay immensely on every visit is the exceptional service by two friendly ladies who manage the hotel, Loredonna and Sylvia. While the surrounding neighborhood doesn't have many restaurants, a lifesaver is a huge PAM supermarket located in a mall on Via Guilia just down the hill only about a 3-minute walk. You can also easily catch buses to the city center at that location and the Villa Bottacin is just a 15-minute walk to Viale Vente Settembre, a shady pedestrian-only area packed with restaurants, cafes and gelato shops. We love this hotel and, no doubt, we'll return next year and stay even longer than 10 days.

Stayed here for one week in June.Beautiful villa in lovely well kept grounds. The road to it was narrow but well worth it as it was so peaceful once inside, couldn't believe we were in the centre of a city.We had two lovely ground floor rooms with patios. The staff were brilliant and couldn't help us enough. Would love to stay there again.
