This is a beautiful, cosy, colourful hideaway, just out of the city centre - a real joy to come home to up on the hill, with views over the city, yet still very close (easy walking distance if you're fittish, or with a bus if you're not) to the heart of Trieste.

The room is huge and feels almost like two separate bedrooms really, though it's open plan. The bathroom's large, with a hot power shower, and there's a nice kitchen too. Not that you really need the latter as breakfasts are provided (lovely freshly pressed mandarin juice was the highlight, as well as the owners' homemade damson and apricot jam: there's also tea, coffee, yoghurt, and biscuits, and white toast - maybe not as 'wholefoody' as some people would like, and on the sugary side, but that's just a matter of taste).

The husband and wife owners are very kind and helpful and made every effort to make us feel at home. They have a lovely, easygoing 'zen' dog (he's a Japanese something or other) and, most charmingly, there is art everywhere on the walls. The wife paints these lovely vibrant pictures, full of warm colours and the apartment has these on the walls, which adds a vibrancy to it. There're also an intriguing couple of sculptures in the room. Feels very quirky and inspiring.

All in all, a jewel of a place to stay in beautiful Trieste. Thank you again!

This bed and breakfast is blessed with a great location, but even more so, the owners are incredibly hospitable. We arrived very late, which was no problem at all, and overslept the breakfast, which was then offered as brunch :) The little things that add onto a nice or a fantastic weekend. They made it fantastic. The apartment is cozy and artistic, with all the amenities you could need. Leaving the apartment, you are at the castle with a wonderful view over the city. I would love to come back soon! Thanks for your kindness!

We had 4 nights at Tre Rose and I wish it could have been longer. Booking a B and B and getting a whole private spacious apartment with a sunny terrace is what I call a great deal! The fact that the decor is colourful, artistic with many interesting ethnic touches was another plus for us. It's beautifully positioned near the Castello and the most beautiful church of San Giusto with fabulous views over the city and easy access by bus to the town center if you don't relish the hike up the steps ( actually we mostly walked and felt fitter for it but if you can't face the climb the bus stops a few metres from the door of Tre Rose).
There's a lot to do in Trieste but the best thing is simply hanging out in the various cafés or walking by the sea. The owners will tell you where to find the best fish restaurant, almost on your doorstep, and unless you really dislike fish I would make sure you eat there at least once during your stay.
We enjoyed a good breakfast each morning and also the opportunity to have some conversation with our very friendly helpful hosts.
We are definitely hoping to return to Trieste and Tre Rose in the near future.

This place is situated on a castle hill if Triest. It is quite close to the city center, but there is a lot of steps to overcome. If You do not like to walk You can take a bus (unfortunately it does not go to often). This place is actually a fully equipped separate apartment situated in the basement/ground floor of the house of the owners. It has its own kitchen, bathroom and terrace with the view to the garden and other buildings. The apartment is colorful and well furnished. On the walls there are a lot of paintings, painted by the owner-lady. Space is enough for 4 people: one double bed, one folded bed and one unfolded sofa.

Owners are very nice, smiling and helpful people.

Breakfast is very simple but it’s enough (coffee, juice, yoghurt, toasts, jam, honey etc.)

The B&B is situated in the hilly part of the town by the castle San Giusto. You can reach it by walking from a train or bus station for about 20-25 minutes.Be aware there is lots of steps to master towards the end of your journey so only do this if you have backpacks to carry and you're fit walking up the stairs. Otherwise I suggest you hop on a taxi especially if pulling a suitcase behind you. The views from the top are amazing!
The room we were staying in is in the ground floor of owners house and has its own entrance. It's actually one bedroom flat - sleeping area, sofa+TV, bathroom and the kitchen+small outdoor seating. Pity the outdoor area wasn't prepared to be used, it would be lovely to have a breakfast there. Instead we had breakfast upstairs in owners dinning room. Breakfast was prepared by lovely sister of the owners who prepared loads of sweet treats like piece of birthday cake from a welcome home party of her niece and plate full of cherries from their garden which we were welcome to pick our self. lovely!
The kitchen is fully useable so if you don't fancy eating out just shop like locals do and eat&drink at home as we did on one occasion.
And have I mention orange? yes its very orange but its really suits to this place.
Yes you do feel very home here and almost part of the family ;)
