We stayed here for2 nights and choosed this hotel for our visit to Bologna. There is a large outdoor parking area around the hotel for free. A bus (number 20) stops close to the hotel which brings you in 20 minutes straight to the city center for just €1,50 per person. The ticket is valid for 75 minutes. You can get a ticket on the bus at the ticket machine but be aware that machine only accepts coins and does not change. Before the stop of citycenter you can stop at TA#1 restaurant Breaking Toast where the busstop is before this small eatery. The room of the hotel is small but cozy and clean. Unfortunately there is no kettle in the room but this seems the standard in Italy. A very large locker where easily a laptop fits. Bathroom with bath and shower and lots of ammenities and towels. Breakfast was great with fresly squized orange juice and custom made coffee to be ordered. Also a visit to restaurant attached Garganelli is a must!

We all enjoyed staying at the Savoia Regency. Useful large car park. Reasonable breakfasts. Good location. Good wifi. We were even able to watch the premiership football game on the big screen in the basement for the team that several of guys supported.

Starting with the positives: this elegant large hotel is a convenient stop just outside Bologna along Italy's main North South highway and would make a great base for anyone with a car to explore the region. The lobby is elegant with an art deco feeling and large Lempinka reproductions and high ceilings. The restaurant dining room is equally elegant and was the real surprise delight of our visit. We really enjoyed the salt baked fish which was done to perfection (See photos). And the breakfast and breakfast setting were excellent. We were so comfortable out by the pool we didn't want to leave. Our minor complaints are the following. The reception desk service was rude, in particular one haughty young woman. We had gotten a great rate booking online, but when we arrived we were told the booking was only for one person not too and we needed to pay 10 Euros more. I honestly didn't mind, and although I was sure I'd specified a booking for two, and I was ready to hand over the cash immediately giving them the benefit of the doubt, but the attitude was that somehow I had done something wrong and was trying to shortchange them. Then the next morning, the same young woman treated me very rudely implying - for no reason - that I was trying to sneak out of the hotel without paying. I don't know what made them act like this - do people "do runners" here regularly? The airconditioning in the room worked well, and the bed was comfortable. The room was slightly small, but again, we had booked this at a bargain rate and no complaints. The bathroom flooring was a bit worn, giving an impression of not being entirely clean, but that may have just been the wear. These are all minor things in our book, and on the balance we would definitely stay here again especially if we managed to get a similar rate (under 100 euros including breakfast even after we paid the extra 10 - which we felt was fair - we just didn't like the way it was handled). The restaurant is what made it really special. We were really astonished at how good it was. And the restaurant service was impeccable.

Dear SwissGoodLife,
We would like to thank You for choosing Savoia Hotel Regency and providing us such a valuable feedback which will definitely be most helpful to help us identify our current service flaws, rectify them and thus improve our customers’ satisfaction, which is something we commit to on a daily basis.
We were particularly happy with the kind words you had to share about our Garganelli restaurant, the breakfast service and the pool area. Concerning the rates, we also pledge to offer the best possible value for money and were glad to see how our best efforts were also appreciated by you.
However, We would like to point out that our rates very depending on the number of occupants in room which is why you were asked to pay a € 10 supplement per night upon arrival. Now, while We can appreciate how our staff member’s tone may not have been the most pleasant one (and cannot, therefore, condone it), We are afraid this is a standard practice at Savoia Hotel Regency, as We deem it important to address any rate changes upon arrival rather than waiting until one’s departure. In our colleague’s defense, We must admit that we have not been immune to (very few) guests failing to settle their outstanding balance before departure, although we are positive that such behavior must have been most unintentional and can, perhaps, help you understand her being overzealous. Nonetheless, We can assure You that our Front Office Management Team has spoken with the colleague You had the misfortune of dealing with and are certain her actions will only improve in the future.
To conclude, We really hope this incident has not tarnished your overall impression of our property and would love to have you back at Savoia Hotel Regency!

Booked this hotel a few months back on a special rate for three nights. Was not disappointed! The breakfast is plentiful, the staff very friendly and helpful. Only negative was that although the reservation stated that there were bicycles and a pool, we couldn't get access to either as the beginning of October is 'close' season for both.

Room tip: view of the pool and terrace was lovely.

Good points:
-Friendly stuff
-Ok food
-All round happiness
-Convenient location.
-My little one loved the swimming pool whilst I enjoyed the Mojito beach cocktails on the fantastic sun lounger!
-We enjoyed the bike rides...free bikes from the sister hotel across the road.

We chose this hotel for our last week in Italy- to just relax and unwind before flying back home.

We thoroughly loved it.

The only negative is the bathroom leaked everytime we showered however, the management sorted this pretty quickly.

We are definitely coming back.
