My first experience with the Grand Hotel Palace’s service came when I had trouble booking a family suite through their website. Valentina very quickly responded to my email, and after a bit of back and forth, had my reservation all sorted. I was really impressed by the promptness of her communication, and it set a good tone for our stay.

The hotel is about 2km from the train station, so upon arrival in Ancona, we took a taxi (€10) since we had luggage and children to maneuver. It is just across the street from the water and the port where the ferry ships come and go - a nice view if you get one of the rooms on that side of the building. The old town section of the city is just a couple of blocks away, and we found everything very walkable.

Check in was quick and easy, and the clerks at reception all spoke very good English. We had a bit of trouble with the electronic key for our rooms, and everyone worked diligently to get it sorted right away.

The family room is actually two separate rooms that become a suite when an outer sort of hall door is used to unite them. I thought it was a clever use of floor plan which gives the hotel flexibility. The rooms themselves are pretty tight - especially the one we put the kids in. There was no space really to even open their suitcase, but since we were only staying the one night, we didn’t really mind.

The bathrooms were both good-sized with all the usual amenities. Both rooms also had mini fridges with complimentary water, coke, and fruit juice. These sort of refreshments were also available at the front desk to take as desired.

Breakfast was a bit underwhelming in selection, so that was the only area I would say any improvement was needed.

Also, something not under the control of the hotel which should be mentioned is the air raid siren which seems to be used in some way by the port across the street. We first heard it at 10pm - which was no big deal because we were just getting ready for bed - but then it sounded again at 6am, waking us all up (and I was using earplugs and it still woke me. It’s pretty loud!) It sounded several more times before we left at noon. It didn’t seem to be associated with ferries entering or leaving the port, so I could never figure out what it was for, but it was definitely not a nice way to wake up. Again, not under the control of the hotel, just something to be aware of.

Our stay at the Grand Hotel Palace was short but pleasant, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Ancona.

Been there for only one night during a business trip. Use to travel quite a lot for work and there are little important details I notice when I stay in a hotel, that I fully recognize here.
Not only clean and nicely decorated.
Plugs to recharge my phone on the side bad table, a nice window view where to admire the sunrise on Ancona port, people how works there are not just courteous but smart, efficient and friendly.
Surely I would repeat the experience.

We stayed in the hotel this summer and were absolutely taken by the great service . We had some "car problems" and the front desk helped us immensely by making phone calls, running around town trying to help us and translating as neither of us speak italian. We were also upgraded when we arrived without hesitation due to some problem with our booking that was very last minute. The hotel in itself was clean and modern, nice breakfast and bar area. I would recommend it to anyone staying in the area.

Fantastic location in the center of the city ver close to the harbor and the old city, with good food and breakfast and great coffee as well. Clean and well renovated with spacious rooms and friendly people.

This hotel was stuffy and a boring 4/5 star
With the refurb has come style in presentation in the rooms and a rather nice wine bar on ground floor
Great staff...position perfect for exploring Ancona's history and eating and shopping and ferries....need i say more...no...well worth the stay!!!
