Visited as part of the combined tour with the Vatican and Sistine Chapel..amazing visual sight, well worth the 3 hr tour. Book in advance and pick skip the line tour..very well organised and worth it. Get there early as crowds are huge.

incredible place..i actually hooked up with a tour for basilica but unfortunaletly the guide was painstakingly going over everything I just had to leave and look around myself. incredible historic items. allow a day just to get through security, and queus. make sure you have comfy shoes. maybe a drink and snack on hand. and if with people aged maybe a wheelchair.
What a wonder! There is truly no way to describe the Vatican without being there... utterly breathtaking!
It is everything you see, hear, or read about. Get ready for LONG lines to each attraction, EVEN if you pay extra to "skip the line"
After spending a few hours in the Vatican museum shoulder to shoulder and toe to toe with thousands of others it was such a relief to enter the Basilica, there were lots of people here too but the Basilica is so large you don’t notice others. So much to see here, I just wandered around amazed by the whole place. OOk
