Piazza Navona is a great place to stop for a break from a long day of walking around Rome to enjoy a gelato and take in the beauty that surrounds you.

Dont go there in evening. There are many places much nicer. Instead go for pantheon or Campo di fiore.

Massive Piazza which normally has a lot of tourists milling about. After you have had you walk around and read the descriptions of the monument in the center, get an outdoor seat at on of the cafes. Usually a little over priced but this will give you the vantage point for watching the world walk by.

This is a really quaint area (side streets worth a wander) and the star of the show is St Agnes Church. It really is incredible, make sure this is on your visit list for Rome!!
The rest of the street and fountains are impressive also. Definitely worth spending an hour in thus area....
