I've stayed twice and really enjoy this hotel. It's in a calmer neighborhood...which I favor rather than being in the bustling tourist centers. The service is exceptional and the amenities quite good. I particularly appreciated the ample room size, vis a vis most hotel rooms in Europe. I would stay here again.

Our room was on the 8th floor and our view of the city couldn't have been better. Everyone was very friendly and accommodating. I would definitely stay here again. Our balcony rivaled the size of our room. It had a fabulous outdoor seating area.

Vacationed in Madrid in April with a large group (business incentive trip) and stayed at the InterContinental. We had a great experience. Rooms are clean and comfortable. The bathroom was very spacious. Breakfast buffet was great -- a large selection of a variety of foods: meats, cheeses, danishes, breads, pancakes, eggs, cereals, fruits, etc.The decor of the hotel is beautiful. Ordered room service one night and good was very good. Service was very friendly. My only downside to the whole stay was my camera was stolen. I had it when we went down for breakfast, went back up to the room before heading out for the day to change my jacket, went back down to catch a taxi. Once I was in the taxi I realized my (new) camera was gone. At first I thought I may have forgotten it in the room, but once we returned back to the hotel it was no where to be found. Called the front desk hoping someone might have turned it in, but no such luck! However, they took my name and telephone number and told me they would contact me, even after I returned home, IF anyone turns it in. Of course, that is no reflection on the hotel. It was just an unfortunate thing that happened while I was staying there. Besides that, it was a great stay. We would definitely recommend and would stay there again.

The hotel is a mainstay and is regularly visited by government officials. The lobby is formal and impeccably maintained. Rooms are clean and functional, but on the small side. Business accommodations were up to standard - the wifi worked as promised. This is a great place to stay while on business in Madrid.

Room Tip: Higher is quieter

I had traveled from Malaga to Madrid for a following day flight, so needed a one-night room. I have yet to find a Madrid hotel I just love. I had high hopes for the InterConti.
Service is absolutely excellent. Upon arrival, the taxi drive was attempting to cheat me out of 3 Euros (when I got into his taxi, the meter was not on 0). As I speak no Spanish, the doorman intervened. Front desk service was friendly and excellent. Concierge service was excellent.
I have Platinum level with IHG Rewards, so was told I had already been upgraded. I had hoped to get a room on the concierge/club level. Nope. I was "upgraded" to an 8th floor room with no view. I asked about breakfast and was told as a Platinum level guest, they could offer me a discount from their usual 35 Euro rate to 22 Euros. No thanks. I was given free wifi, but that required another trip to the front desk.
The king bed room was small. As a solo traveler that was fine, but if a couple was in this room with luggage, it would be difficult. The bathroom was one of the smallest I had been in, in 54 nights in Spain. The toilet and bidet faced each other and were a mere 12 inches apart. You had to close the bathroom door to get into the shower-tub, which was also small.
I used points for this stay and have to wonder if that's why I was not given a bigger room or one of concierge/club level.
The hotel's location is not in the tourist section. It is in the financial business district. There are no near by restaurants. I walked 20 minutes to the Hard Rock. If you want to go to the Prado or the Thyssen, it would require a taxi ride. The shopping area (Salamanca) would be about a 30 minute walk.
I would consider the InterConti for a future Madrid stay, even though I was a bit disappointed in the room.
