Third visit to Madrid and this is always on my first day stop! Some vino tinto and tapas while just wandering around, the atmosphere can be hectic but it is on most people’s must do’s when in Madrid so what do you expect. Couple of tips - be sure to obtain a receipt for any purchase if you wish to use toilets! The edge of the building has shelves which are less crowded to stand around. And finally just enjoy!

Lots of selection and bustling. Typically Spanish and would recommend not going on a weekend and to get there earlyish to get a nice spot to sit and people watch whilst eating your way through the tapas delights whilst trying the wines/sangria/sherry.

Went there for lunch and waded through the crowds. Very busy but worth it. Best to get a seat at one of the bars so you can sit and eat all your treats and drink

We visited the Mercado San Miguel on our first day and we were put off by the congregation of pigeons inside the market. Nonetheless, great food but slightly overpriced, the wife thinks the Chueca market was better :/

Although was very crowded and we had nowhere to sit, we just walked between the different counters and ordered many types of dishes.
If you are an olive lover like me, don't skip the olive counter - was great.
