We arrived to pouring rain in Barcelona and once unpacked headed off to the Gothic Quarter for some shelter and Spanish food. After walking the backstreets, every restaurant looked a uninviting/touristy/empty. We just happened on this place (a doorway) it was packed with people and emanated a warm glow. We were welcomed in out of the rain and as two women on our own it was comforting to see mixed groups, not just couples. There was no pressure to order, so we took our time - a lovely start to the holiday. We shared their tomato, tahini and Arabic bread starter - delicious. The hot spinach and cheese sandwich made with the toasted flat bread was our main but one was enough for two as it was very filling. We felt rather conspicuous hitting the wine as everyone else appeared to be on tea, but everything about the place was relaxed and like being in someone's front room so the whole experience put us in the holiday mood. We returned 2 days later!
