Interactive and fun museum packed full of tourists as you’d imagine! It’s divided into sections well so you don’t suffer from museum fatigue too badly.
The area where you can look inside the different stages of chocolate being processed in the machines is cool but the waits for the free chocolate are not so cool. Instead, you’re better off spending a bit of money in the cafe by the entrance instead and getting a proper amount of chocolate!

The chocolate museum was brilliant, it was really good to actually see working machinery making the chocolate in front of you instead of just being explained. The tour was well laid out starting with the coccoa plant and very informative, in this section they actually had a rainforest room, the heat is crazy and the humidity and rainfall too, but something you dont get to experience often and in some cases ever. Upstairs the exhbition carrys on with a chance to design and make your own chocolates as well as a free taster, watch the lindt workers at work making their beautiful creations before moving onto the history of chocolate and all involved in its process. Their is a gift shop back at the start/end which as you can imagine is absolutely packed but well worth a visit they sell it all.
The museum cost around €11 each so wasnt too expensive and definately a good experience. Their is a little train car that can take you to the museum from the city centre right outside the cathedral or its 10-15 minute walk along the rhine, we opted for the train their to give our legs a rest and then walked back entering old town on the way where we could get a beer and some food.

Since landing in Cologne, I have been longing to visit the Chocolate Museum. It is right on the riverside. Walking distance from Hilton Cologne. I think it is about 12 Euros for entrance fee. I spent about two hours learning the history of chocolate, the plant, the fruit, the seeds, the struggle of the farmers, the trade, the chocolate history in Germany and the manufacturing process. Really good. Bought few packs of Chocolate to bring it to US but no luck. I ate them all. Temptation is too high. May be next time.
