It is one of the most important thing to visit. It is easy to find and it is free to enter and see interior , where you can see maps from Hannover in different time and see the development of the city.

Well, Hannover is not a city with plenty of tourist attractions, but there are some hidden jewels. One of them and definitely a must see is the „new“ town hall (which is more than 100 years old anyway).
First of all it’s a stunning building, whe you see it, you predict it is even older, it’s very beautiful especially given the origin in 1913, although it was always a town hall it looks similar to a castle. And by the way, it was build in two years only, all in time and all „paid for in cash“, as mentioned back then by the Lord Mayor to the Kaiser.
Secondly, when you go there don’t miss the elevator to the top, it‘s the only one of this kind in Europe (probably in the world), as it is not going straight up but inclining and in addition it changes the direction of the incline in between, winding up the dome of the town hall. Beside this you will have. Stunning view over the city.
Third: there re four models of Hannover in the basement hall of the building, showing Hannover in the years 1689, 1939, 1945 and nowadays. Especially the model of 1945 showing all the destruction from WWII is worth to see.
In addition to all of that, go to the back of the building an visit the small Maschteich-Lake, on weekends you may see small and big people letting their model boat swim

Ok. Definitely worth visiting if you are in Hannover. Beautiful architecture. Not much else to say. Worth a walk there though.

Worth a visit for sure. I went on a Sunday morning about 10 am and it was perfect. The place was nearly empty so I could take as many photos as I wanted without interruption..score!

The pond behind the building was frozen and it was bitterly cold but I still braved the temperatures.

Absolutely stunning city hall building. Spare some time to enter inside and wonder around multiple floors of this wonderful building which is free of charge. City models at the ground floor give a nice idea how Hanover has expanded since the middle ages and how much it has been damaged during the WWII.
