A really evocative and interactive memorial that brings you inside. Very worth visiting and walking amongst the stones

Visited today with the kids, they had been briefed beforehand it wasn’t a parkour course and the all wondered around in a respectful enough manor. Sadly not all did and not even kids.
I found the memorial to be surprisingly impressive / oppressive considering the simplicity. I wouldn’t say I liked it as that’s not the point really.

The underground Information Centre is well worth a good two hours before you go up and wander through the field of concrete blocks (see photos).
Its a challenging and thought provoking place to reflect on the millions who were murderd and the regime which carried out the outrages.

I saw at least 3 people taking selfies at this place, I get the feeling that many dont take this memorial as seriously as the matter actually is. This is very fitting, very plain, not sure if its the best design for such a subject, but then what is fitting, artwork of each and every person persecuted during this dispicable period of time. At least its recognised and not hidden away, and thats whats important, that we learn from the past, have we learned?

Please be respectful when visiting this place, do not jump around or take asinine selfies. Be solemn, and mindful of the purpose of the memorial
