Very impressive museum, with many amazing artifacts. Anyone at least remotely interested in history should not miss it. The Ishtar gate is truly mesmerising, also impressive is the fact that they mananged to somehow rebuild this masterpiece from original pieces.
I recommend getting a timed ticket because the line is always over 1 hour long.

There was a queue on arrival , but we didn’t wait more than 45’ to get in . The museum itself is quite interesting. I did expect more original pieces of history . Quite a large percentage of the exhibition are copies of originals. However , the museum is definatly worth the visit , there are some really beautiful things to see , I strongly recommend the earphones given without extra charge to have a really good explanation of what you are actually seeing.

I recommend booking tickets with a time slot ahead of your visit. This way you can skip the long lines.

It is recommended to book your visit otherwise you maybe spend two hours to enter in,something that is awful when the weather is cold.As for the museum: the exhibition is amazing, really impressive ,but also pity as German has uprooted whole face building to creat a museum.Totally recommended a visit.!Take the three days museum card to save money.Surely you will spend two hours there.Greek audio is available.

This seems to be on everyone's "Must See" list. It is pretty amazing but I was a little let down. We went early and still had to wait 45 minutes or so to get in. They let admit people in small groups. It's a good idea because you are hit right away with the Ishtar Gate. And it is astounding. The museum is unique in that it houses several large scale works like this one. The is also a Roman Gate and a Persian Gate. All very impressive. The collection tends to focus on Middle Eastern works and it is interesting from that perspective. I really did enjoy it but maybe overhyped just a bit.
