From Thomas Hibber, Thomas Lawrence, to Monet and Van Gogh - this museum has so many nice pieces to offer. Do bring a pen and a notebook to write down the names of the pictures and dig in a art history research when you back home.

Went there at 3pm and stayed until it closed at 6pm. Better reserve at least 3 hours!

I spent one hour enjoying the paintings and a few offbeat displays that filled a room. This is not a huge museum that takes a day.

I was unable to find the van Gogh sunflower painting that is so often shown online for this museum, so I deduct one star. If it’t advertised, it should be easy to find, but it wasn’t.

Paul Klee and other German artists have many canvases each on display. Fewer for other artists, for example I noticed one Picasso, one Matisse.

Take the tram toget there.

Great collection of mainly 19th century art. The main part of the collection stems from the private royal collection of Ludwig I. - which explains some if the more unknown (and sometimes rather dreary) artists; still a very interesting collection. The audio guide tends to state the obvious; not necessary. The hanging of the pictures os often questionable, hard to see pictures without annoying reflections.

This museum is a splint-off of the modern art from the other state museums since I was last in Munich and we really enjoyed seeing the collection

A gallery in the centre of Munich that would grace any City in the world. There is an important collection of paintings and sculpture from the 19th century onwards. Relatively quiet when we visted but shouldn't be missed when in Munich. The highlights are pieces by Picasso, Monet, Manet, Cezanne, Renoir, Klimt and Van Gogh. Worth the entry price but even more so on Sundays when it is only one euro. Would definitely recommend a visit to anyone not just art lovers.
