This is a splendid 19th century hotel in the heart of the town. The central cast iron staircase and atrium are spectacular and the rooms are enormous.
Our room was at least 6m square with a large en-suite with twin basins. The shower was in-bath.
Breakfast is served in a 1st floor room overlooking the gardens. The breakfast was varied, of extremely good quality and the staff were pleasant and helpful. There are outside tables when the weather is warm and dry.
Getting there by car is tricky. If approaching from the A5, you need to turn left up Leopoldstrasse (leaving the town), pass through a road tunnel and then turn right at the lights. This will bring you down to Sophienstrasse. Parking is behind the hotel - reception provide a route map - and there is direct access from the car park through the gardens to the first floor.
The hotel is located in the heart of the town with a good selection of nearby restaurants and classy shopping.
The ceilings are high which means that there are a lot of stairs to deal with unless you use the single, small, lift - this is the only negative point.
Nevertheless, I would certainly book this hotel if I return to Baden-Baden.More
