We recently revisited Canto Cigalo, our first visit being three years ago. Then we were doing a 9 week tour of France and Italy, and decided that Canto Cigalo had been out favourite hotel of the whole trip. It is absolutely beautiful, inside and out, looking like a Van Gogh painting. Every room is decorated differently, with bright blues, pinks and yellows and small crickets on all the walls. There's a small pretty garden outside, good for a brief stroll in the morning with the dog, and for an aperitif in the evening. Although it is about 10 minutes in to town, there is a short cut straight ahead, through a car park, just as you reach the narrow road to the right.
We thought the €9.50 breakfast a little overpriced, so found a breakfast for €5.50 in the town. We also thought the charge for the dog, €12 per night a bit steep. Nevertheless, we'd go back again!

Our experience seems better than many other reviews. Desk clerk efficient and typical. Our 2nd floor room directly above the entrance door had AC that worked nicely. The pool was clean and refreshing. Want me to nit-pick? Buffet breakfast was definitely disappointing with half of the items being mass-produced cookies. On the walk down to town for dinner, you'll pass by a 5-star resort, which may leave you wanting when you get back. :-/ You'll survive this knowing what a bargain price you've paid.

The canto Cigalo was a beautiful place to relax and enjoy the wonderful town of St Remy! The location is so nice, just an easy stroll into the city. We were without a car, and still found it to be very convenient place from which to see the sites. We walked to the Antiques, Glanum, and into town centre. The pool was very nice! The breakfast superb! The room was nicely decorated, clean with a comfortable bed. Best of all, the staff were all very very friendly and helpful. This is an absolute little piece of paradise!

Room Tip: This is the hotel to choose if you want luxury!

We stayed here in the height of summer and were on the second floor. It was stiflingly hot, there as no aircon or fan. Even in the evening when it started to cool down the staff didn't bother to open the windows up in the hallways to let the hot air out. We only had one window and it took hours for the heat to finally dissipate each night. I would not recommend the breakfast there it is overpriced for what you get. Wifi was woeful and almost impossible to use. Location was good but that is all to recommend it. I found it very difficult to communicate with staff in English.

Room Tip: Don't stay there in summer and if you do ask for a room on the ground floor and bring a fan.

We seek bargins and we found one online with this hotel. Whie the rooms are large and the beds comfortable. We knew there was no air conditioning but the large overhead fan worked for us. The toilet was another matter. There is a permanently open window in the bathroom for a smelly reason. The flush lever didn't function properly but I was OK with removing the lid and repositioning the old mechanism.. A total replacement is needed. The gravel lawn was a bit of a surprise as the breakfast was served there. The crunch crunch of folks walking across the gravel was matched by my munch of cereal. BTW, the 9,50 euro for breakfast is not worth it. For two of us 19 euro a day was twice as much as we woud have paid in the charming town just a 10 minute walk away. The staff were employees in the strict sense of the word, no pride in the place or their positions. We were ignored as we came and went, few smiles and many dressed in t-shirts, jeans and sneakers.

Room Tip: Some have air condisioning we were told.
