We had an amazing time there. The resort is far from everything and that adds to its charm. The service is excellent. They have an amazing restaurant and everything on the menu is reasonably priced. They have a gorgeous infinity pool and a lovely private beach. They have resident pets too!

We highly recommend Amun Ini Resort and hope to return someday. The owner, Fred, lives on the property and takes great pleasure in mingling with and catering to guests. His hospitality was mirrored by his friendly and accommodating staff and we felt welcomed like family the entire time we were there. Our room was spacious, clean, beautifully decorated, with a large bathroom, good WiFi, and a deck overlooking the ocean. The infinity pool likewise had an amazing ocean view. Fred's daughter and son-in-law, highly accomplished chefs who trained in renowned San Francisco restaurants, run the restaurant and have put together a creative menu using locally sourced organic ingredients. Every dish was delicious and perfectly presented, as good as anything served in foodie cities of the world.

Diving was excellent and most sites were only a 5 minute boat ride away. Lots of critters are to be found with healthy reefs and copious corals. Dive guides were helpful and great spotters, and accommodating of photographers. Most sites have a 15-20ft top of dense coral, with a wall dropping to about 70ft to sloping sand where the sand creatures live. Some of the highlights are pygmy sea horses, sea moth, mandarin fish, frog fish, anemone fish, banded sea snake, numerous shrimp species, and nudis. Mostly it's smaller creatures that are there though there are also plenty of turtles, and a whale shark passed us overhead on one dive. Good viz and 82 F water temp.

The rooms were very nice and quiet. Wonderful amenities. But the real standout was the service from one of the dining room waiters.

The hotel had a table set aside for my wife and I for each of our meals. The food was just "ok". I think the chef / kitchen was trying too hard and made all the meals "too flavorful". Almost to the point where the pancakes were so sweet that you couldn't eat them. It was like they were trying too hard to make "fancy" meals. Sometimes, simple is better.

Our waiter, Jeffery was a pleasure. He remembered both of our names and was very entertaining with his mannerisms. He made our trip to Amun Ini memorable.

While it was a nice experience at this exclusive resort, we probably wouldn't go back again because their wifi is slow. I needed it for business. If you're going and you don't mind being disconnected (the reason you go on vacation), then it's a recommended place to stay.

Tranquil, beautiful small resort nestled amongst mature trees and a garden, offering a very warm welcome and excellent standards of hospitality. We enjoyed a relaxing six night stay, invigorated by diving trips out to the nearby reefs with great food and good hospitality..
We noted that the resort is considerably more expensive than nearby hotels but booked on a recommendation. We were not remotely disappointed and our best recommendation is that we are already planning to come back.
We were greeted very warmly and the friendliness and warmth continued throughout the stay. All the staff genuinely seemed proud of ensuring that we were as well looked after as possible.
The standard of the room was very good, with a spacious bedroom and a large bathroom/wardrobe area. The restaurant was beautiful (large and airy, fairly contemporary) and we enjoyed excellent, restaurant quality meals at every sitting. The breakfast portions were enormous so watch out. We were offered a Phillippines special dinner and this was a culinary highlight. We also used the spa facilities.
We are very experienced scuba divers and enjoyed the beautiful soft coral smothered walls and lots of small critters. The dive centre is spacious and well appointed with a proper camera room and kit storage room. The staff bent over backwards to look after us, we found the slightly American style rah-rah briefings a bit annoying, being rather cynical, battle weary Brits ;-)

Overall we had a great stay. The resort was quite empty at the time and the owners were away with the resort beeing overseen by some friends brought in to keep an eye, but we could see that the operation ran extremely well on it's own, and this is a great reflection on the owners. Bigs, the dive centre operator, popped in several times to check on us and we could see that her very positive outlook had a strong influence on the operation and the staff in the best possible way.

Reading a few of the other comments on here, there are changes I would not want made. I'm not a dog liker (in fact I rather dislike them) but they were generally well behaved and rather charming. No one was smoking, so cannot comment whether intrusive in public areas. I loved the slight rustic edge, and like I said, I am already planning to come back.

Room tip: Upper level rooms have beautiful views over the treetops.

From the moment you arrive to paradise, you are greeted by truly the friendliest staff I have ever encountered at a hotel. You are welcomed home! Or that is how you’ll feel and that is just upon arrival. Every morning, afternoon and night, we were greeted by our names and a huge smile. And they even knew our favorites on the menu too. That was probably the hardest thing of our trip, deciding which were our favorites. Every dish was delectable. The chefs, having grown up in the Philippines but having perfected their cutlery skills in San Francisco, make amazing fusion dishes, but they offer a night dedicated to just traditional Filipino dishes too, that you won’t want to miss. Get ready to eat because you will want to try every dish on the menu... twice! And you’ll enjoy these meals with a gorgeous view of the pool and ocean that sit just beneath you.

The room was exactly what we had hoped for and more: traditional Filipino décor, but modern, clean and quiet. And a gorgeous view of the ocean and trees. Although you won’t want to leave your room, it is worth spending the day in the pool or on the beach. They have amazing facilities if you are a diver, love to snorkel, kayak or paddle board. I have stayed here a number of times, and while on one trip, I chose to not leave the premises (because why would you need or want to?), they do arrange great services of touring the island. Whether you want to see the chocolate hills, the tarsiers, or just explore the hiking available on the island, Amun Ini provides all of this for you. I cannot recommend this place enough. I’m already planning my next vacation here.

Room tip: All of the rooms are amazing. But I prefer the second floor with a view of the ocean.
