Perfect Resort with dive school on sea

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Jan 16, 2023
We have stayed 12 nights at Blue Star with our familie of 4. We stayed in the deluxe room with sea view. This are 2 rooms on ground level and 2 rooms on the first floor. My wife and I had the ground floor and our girls the first floor. The room is really big with very good beds. There is a separate bathroom with toilet. The rooms come with breakfast where you can choose from 4 types of breakfast. The pancakes are really delicious. The resort also has a nice pool with sunbeds. There is also a whirlpool with view on the sea. The resort immediately felt like our home. The people there are so nice and friendly, they always welcome you with a smile. Sayong is the lady from the frontdesk who helps you with eveything you ask. But also Theresa wo sometimes was at the front desk was really nice. Kenneth the waiter already knew the second day how we loved our thee and coffee. Also in the morning with the breakfast he knew exactly how I wanted my egs baked. The price/quality ratio is very good in my opinion.
All the people from Blue Star deserve a big applause.

You know you have to write a review but you don’t want to share with others a paradise , well this was it. Blue star resort is amazing, We stayed almost 3 weeks.
It only has 10 accommodation units, which makes you feel really private and pampered,.
The staff are fantastic every single one of them, nothing is too much trouble, they are friendly and caring and make you feel so welcome.
The room we had no 1 was fabulous roomy and airy with a great view and nice and quiet, with aircon which we hardly used as we had two sets of french windows open with a lovely sea breeze.
The food is freshly cooked and delicious with plenty to choose from, Wednesday night is pizza night we ordered one each they were huge, the following week we had one between us.
The staff at the dive centre again are wonderful, we couldn’t dive this time but we snorkelled every day, and if someone was diving they let us join them so we could snorkel different sites.
We met the owners whilst we were there and again a lovely couple who care and look after their staff, which reflects on how happy the staff were.
The local town of Anda is a short tuk tuk tide away they have a market day which is great, there are cave pools and beaches close by.
The resort will arrange a tour of the island at a reasonable cost which we thoroughly enjoyed.
We cannot wait for the time we can travel freely again to return.

We stayed in this hotel for three nights in March. We felt like the hotel was ok, not blowing us away and needed some TLC to bring it up to the standard expected form the rates it charges for rooms.

    Pros
Lovely pool area and sun loungers to relax
Decent sized pool table by the restaurant
Incredible sea views throughout the resort
Staff on the whole very friendly and helpful amid the corona virus panic!
Pizza night and live music on Wednesday was very good fun
Easy access to the sea - although very steep!
Breakfast which was included in our rate was cooked to order and very good indeed! Decent scrambled eggs are hard to find in the Philippines!

    Cons
The shower offered up literally a dribble of water. It was the least powerful of all hotels in three months of travelling around Asia.
The entire bathroom unit looked very dated and in need of a deep clean / upgrade.
Room furniture looked like something out of the 80s
Food and drink in the restaurant pretty high for the local area
No restaurants bars or shops within walking distance of the resort - more a reflection in Anda as a place as still up and coming
No fan and air con too noisy / causes the room to be too hot or cold in the night time
Roosters nearby which make a racket of noise form 4am
Sea was very rough - not sure if this was just bad luck or if that’s typical of the area. It’s a shame as we went here for the snorkelling!

As the title show there is false advertising on the room description. As this is a room with a price tag of 67USD it should not be a cabin somewhere near the ocean. Actually, it is. The walls of this oceanview bungalow are made of local bamboo construction, with the exception of the front wall and the bathroom. Sounds delightful but in reality it is not. For starters the sounds inside the room is the same as outside the room. The temperature in the Philippines is not low but the room temperature is the same as outside, kind of. So, if you are looking for an outdoor experience with a full size roof this is the place. BTW, I am writing this review at 4am, because nobody can sleep as it is raining and the sound inside is the same as outside and I am actually sitting outside as it is cooler here than inside with a fan that is 3m (9ft) away from the bed. Oh, the large bed is two twins put together, so if you want to cosi up next to your hubby, not so nice.

My husband and I have just returned from a fabulous 8 days in Anda and we honestly found it hard to leave! The service and care given by the staff surpassed our expectations - this is even though our stay got off to an inauspicious start as we lost one day due to the typhoon on Christmas Day. Very special thanks go out to Mick Chapman and to his lovely wife Mildred. During our stay I completed my PADI open water and my husband did some speciality dives towards his master scuba diving certification. Mick is truly a legend and I feel honoured to be trained by him - I was nervous beforehand but he put me at ease and was very supportive and patient throughout all my dives. Mick is also extremely knowledgeable and safety conscious- when my husband was stung by a scorpion fish he knew exactly what to do and saved my husband from a potentially serious injury. The dive sites were truly beautiful and there is an abundance of turtles and coral reef walls in good condition.

The staff at reception, restaurant and housekeeping also deserve special mention- thank you to Sayong,Zen, Therese, Mirabelle, Ronny and Kenneth ( as well as the chefs cooking the delicious food)- you were all exemplary. Nothing was too much trouble and they even helped arrange transportation for our friend who was staying at a nearby resort. The grounds and facilities were beautiful, clean and well maintained and everyone who works there seems to take pride in their job which is truly commendable.

Blue Star Dive resort was a superlative experience from start to finish and we left with many happy memories. Thank you everyone for making it so special!

We booked the resort after reading so many positive reviews and Blue Star did live up to the hype.

This place is just a paradise for divers. Mick, his lovely wife Mildred (my apologise if the name was misspelled!) and the rest of the team made the whole experience so enjoyable. We had a couple of fun dives with Blue Star and I also took my AOW courses here.

Everything was top notch and diving equipment was all in good condition. The crew was very supportive and we felt so safe with them. Coral and marine life here is the best I’ve ever seen. A true treasure and it is worth everyone’s efforts to protect.

The resort itself was nice and peaceful. Staff were friendly and caring. Food was not bad. But the highlight for us is really the diving centre and the sea!

    We will certainly come back!
