Best Diving Center in the Area By Far

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Mar 2, 2019
We were already diving at the resort next door to this resort and most of the diving at the resort we were at was only shore dives. I wondered in to this resort after diving next door for 3 days only to find this dive resort was amazing.

I had a chance to meet the guy in charge of the diving and he was everything a great dive center needs. Mick Chapman took the time to show us around even after he knew we were diving next door.

The prices with Mick were only a bit more than next door and all dives were done from a boat. We chatted and both my wife and I decided to come the next morning and try some diving. It was amazing and the DM was great.

Found out that day the Mick is also a PADI course director and can certify even instructor levels. Took him up on this and completed my Instructor PADI deep specialty while diving the sites as well.

Great coarse director and I had a chance to even learn a few more skills. I did my 500 dive with this dive center and I was honored to be able to do so. Mick and his lovely wife were a great find and the dive center is run like a well oiled machine.

Clean as a whistle very well organized and run extremely well. PADI can be sure this would be a great IDC center and from what Im told Mick does run IDC's out of this dive center.

Blue Star Dive, is a PADI 5 Star Facility and if your in the area I highly recommend this dive center. We didnt have a chance to stay in the rooms there so I can't write about them however the food was excellent and the coffee was also nice and they had many types.

We stayed here for 2 weeks in November and can highly recommend the hotel location, clean and comfortable rooms and great customer service. Prior to arriving, I had emailed to ask if they could do a special meal as my husband was going to be celebrating his birthday whilst we were there - they certainly delivered and the hotel team went out of their way with food and decorations. This hotel and dive centre was perfectly situated with some great dive sites literally a stones throw away. Mick and Mildred excelled at providing a welcoming and professional environment and the boys on the boat couldn’t have been more accommodating. Will definately be returning.

It was amazing that at such a splendid dive center close to many world-class dive sites we were the only visitors. We felt VIPs at a private dive center. It all started with Mick’s complete reply to our e-mail before the arrival. It continued with the merry company of the staff and competent dive guides knowing their sites and how to dive safely.

The restaurant was almost empty, which might have played a role in that the service was so prompt. They heat on Wednesday evenings a real wood-burning pizza oven. It stands to reason that it attracts more customers also from outside the resort. Our only complaint was the cats at the restaurant, where they do not belong to, we think.

A cue for those of you who want to reserve a land-tour to the region of the Chocolate Hills from the resort: skip the river-boat lunch that we found simply too crowded, hasty and not the tastiest one.

Anda is a remote location, making it a most recommendable spot for those of you that are no party animals but seek for a tranquil break. As usual, the remoteness means slow and intermittent Internet connections, which is good to recognize in advance.

When we arrived at Blue Star, the rooms did not have TV sets. Thus no disturbing noise from the TVs. During the visit TV sets were installed and immediately the next-door neighbour kept us awake longer than desired. The visitors should take into account that the bungalow walls isolate noise as effectively as tents.

To sum up, we sincerely recommend this dive resort.

The food was decent and reasonably priced. The pool was clean and refreshing. The view is stunning and you can see some sea turtles throughout the day. Access to the beach can be quite tricky during high tide or on a windy day, but still manageable.

We spent a total of 4 nights at the resort. During our first night, we had noisy (to say the least) neighbors and ask if there was any other rooms available. They immediately fixed the problem and accommodated us. Standard rooms are okay.

Very convenient location and easy to find if you have a motorbike - 10-minute drive away from Anda (beach + caves + hikes).

    Very recommended.

Everything was excellent here, from the food to service to hospitality to rooms and views and great diving with an excellent dive team, The only negative was there Wed. night Pizza night cooked in a stone oven ,,, the pizza was a bust, nothing special and rather disappointing from the build up ... crust was too thin for my preference and it certainly was not Italian style, But all other food was great especially the well done breakfast,

The swimming pool is very nice but the tiles around the deck are slippery ,,, a bad choice, Best hotel, restaurant and dive staff as a group that I have seen throughout the Philippines, You can't go wrong staying here, especially at very reasonable rates.

We have booked 3 nights in this resort and it couldn't have been any better. We stayed in a ocean view bungalow and the room was very clean, spacious and the bed was nice and soft. The Wi-fi is working everywhere. Despite us not being divers, we have enjoyed our stay so much as the the atmosphere is so relaxing in the resort and the staff is so friendly. The service is great and the food is amazing compared to other good resorts we have been. Especially the pizza night on Wednesday is a nice touch. I would recommend this resort to everyone who like to enjoy the beauty and tranquility of Anda. We will definitely be back when in Philippines and Mick: we will go for a dive then ;-)
