Thoroughly enjoyed my walk through history. Well presented with interesting artifacts. Originally founded in the thirteenth century as a hospital and a hospice.

Interesting museum that is perhaps the only place in Lille that provides a link back to its medieval history when it was controlled by the Counts and Countesses of Flanders. The Countess Jeanne de Flandre founded a hospital in her own palace that remained in use, one way or another, until the middle of the last century.
The hospital ward wasn't open the day we visited but the rest of the museum was still worth the visit.

A real hidden gem, well worth a visit for say three hours maximum. Very close to the centre so convenient for anyone staying in the City.

This is a very old building which is steeped in history and is worth half an hour to just absorb the atmosphere of past times.it is inexpensive and houses a variety of objects including 2 large globes which show just how much of the planets coastlines were mapped in the Middle Ages.

Unfortunately because of a forthcoming art exhibition I could not see the chapel which I would guess is the highlight of the tour. The rest of the building/museum is very interesting and it is well worth paying for the audio guide as it gives the history of the place as well as a guided tour.
