Description: Meert is a "must see" in Lille's Old District, as much for its sweet pleasures as for its Louis XVI decor. The Chief and his team suggest recipes combining perfectly the creative tradition of Meert and produce from the market, carefully selected daily.

I only took away from here, but if the rest of the menu is anything like their stand alone cakes its worth another visit!
The cakes aren't the cheapest, but they are delicious and large enough to satisfy. They're also not too rich or heavy.

Thank GLWayne

The patisserie in the window is irresistible and that’s where you should buy it. Sitting down for a coffee and a pastry will set you back some serious money and the courtyard is simply not that wonderful (and neither is the coffee). This place is a veritable institution in Lille but my advice is skip it.

Good morning groupwww,

First, we thank you for your feedback. You are the first person to have not enjoyed our inner courtyard. Indeed, nestled in the city center it is very popular with local guests and passing. As for your impression on the quality of coffee, it is certainly a matter of taste also?

Anyway, you will always be welcome at Méert during a next stay in the city.

Kind regards,

A delightful old school cafe and shop. With a lovely selection of cake and coffee. In a delightful turn of the century decor. And old fashioned service.
Busy all day,but never hurried.
A perfect place to relax and savour the desserts on offer. And dont forget the chocolate.

Right, lets get this out of the way .. on a very hot busy Sunday afternoon we had lovely, friendly, helpful service throughout. The staff could not have done more for us.

I sometimes feel that people just wish to complain ( for whatever reason or incentive ) or approach restaurants and their staff the wrong way.

At first I intended to go for afternoon tea, but changed my mind and chose Brunch as it suited leaving our hotel and our train times. You do need to book brunch and can't book afternoon tea

It is a lovely setting and for two of us 4 courses plus a glass of champagne cost us 90€.

We stuck to the savoury options and left very full and satisfied indeed.

Nice tea and juices, the egg benedict was especially enjoyable.

The final course could have been a bit more delicate if I'm being critical. As I said a hot day, and chilled water glasses kept being recharged ( for free ) as did the bread.

Visit the shop on the way out for take away treats ( not cheap ) and more visual treats
