We stayed here in early August. The hotel is centrally-located next to the Cathedral on a beautiful old building with bags of character (and a lift). There is some public parking outside on the square (free from 18h to 10h) and there is also a multi-storey car park about 100m away. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the rooms were charmingly decorated with plenty of character. Some rooms have bath over shower and some have a shower cabinet so it's worth enquiring if you have specific requirements. The prestige rooms are a little larger than the standard rooms and have a table and chairs but otherwise the standard and prestige rooms seemed identical. There is no hotel restaurant but there are plenty of options on Place Stanislas and in the Old Town which are a short walk away. There is a breakfast room and the breakfast (Continental) was plentiful, of a good standard, and reasonably priced for a hotel breakfast. Although our room faced the front, we did not find it noisy with the shutters closed. This was a very charming hotel and we would be happy to stay here again.

Visiting Nancy for the first time, I wanted a place close to the city's famous Stanislas square - which allowed for pets. Des Prélats was a solid find - 5 mins walk and on the main mainly pedestrian shopping road. The receptionist was very welcoming and helpful - locating us a room looking into the large courtyard. The hotel itself is old but rooms have been renovated. Ours was small but with a four-poster bed and a decent size bathroom it was fine for the one-night stay. The only downside is, as with most older hotels in France, there was no shower curtain!

There is a decent amount of things to see in Nancy - particularly if you're into cultural/architectural history of Art Nouveau. The breakfast was decent and so overall, the stay added to an enjoyable trip.

Centrally located this hotel has some charm. The rooms are old style and clean however worth some renovation. Some people might find it charming but not when you wake up in the morning because of bad isolation and cracking of the wooden floors upstairs. Moreover the rooms at the street side are even more noisy because of trams and cars. There is no fridge nor kettle with tea/ coffee in the room, the shower products are made in China. As a result we were tired and just wanted to come back home and sleep instead of enjoying Sunday in Nancy.

This French hotel was exactly what we were looking for! The charm, beauty and historical significance of French accommodations with the creature comforts of chain hotels. The stone outer structure kept our room cool despite no a/c and temps in the high 80's. There was a tower fan in our room just in case, although we never used it. We always kept the windows open at night. Remarkably, everywhere in France that we went, there was no need for screens as there was no problems with pesky bugs (and they don't spray pesticides!...go figure!)
We had a room on the street side....the view was wonderful, the bustling of the street started around 9 am and fell silent by about 10 pm. We loved hearing the church bells during the day too!
The floors were a beautiful wood and were obviously original as they creaked ever so slightly when you walked across them only adding to the charm.
The staff was exuberant in their willingness to help...offering maps, instructions, recommendations based on your preferences, and anything else you might need. I found them more flexible in helping than some of the Parisian hotels....(but it is no different in the states, like comparing NYC, NY to Westerville, Ohio). It helps if you can speak "survival French". I would recommend "Duolingo" to learn, or "Reverso context" as a translator.
For those who wanted to add to the charm during breakfast, I recommend the Mirabelle plum tart from the little patisserie across the street...Delicious!
Mirabelle plums are one the Nancy/Metz region's "claim to fame". They are small round plums with a distinct and delicious flavor when fresh. They ripen in mid-late August. This is a great time to visit the region as Mirabelles are everywhere. There is even a huge festival in Metz nearby dedicated solely to the Mirabelle!
I HIGHLY recommend seeing the nightly light show in Stanislas Square near this hotel. We almost didn't go because we were too tired, but ended up walking thru the square just as it started. Thank goodness we did!.....We have never seen anything so spectacular....nothing like what we expected. We expected a bunch of lasers and music like in a rock concert.
Nothing of the sort!.....,you are treated to an ever-changing barrage of visual artwork projected on the buildings sometimes in 3D and accompanied by an array of musical genre. The buildings that surround the plaza virtually disappear in the face of the surreal projections. They are bright, complex, vivid, moving, pulsating and powerful! We couldn't bring ourselves to leave despite our exhaustion!
Ok, I have been too verbose.....but seriously we loved the hotel and its surrounding area. We learned from our good friends who live there, that it is very safe area. And yes, there are a few parking spots right in front of the hotel. We parked our rental car there during our stay; but just to be extra careful, we didn't leave any valuables in the car.

The former palace of the bishops is situated, appropriately enough, next door to the cathedral. The hotel does not have private parking but there is a multi-storey car park nearby and if you are lucky, as we were, there are also a few public parking places right outside the door and they are free from 6pm to 10am. The welcome was friendly, and we liked our bedroom, which had some fine furniture and bed hangings which were presumably a nod to the building's antiquity. The bathroom was spacious and well equipped. There is no air conditioning, but a very effective fan kept us just about cool enough through the night. Breakfast was the best sort of French breakfast - fresh bread and croissants, and a wide range of really good jams. The hotel's position could not be better - just a short walk from the magnificent Place Stanislas and from the many restaurants in Rue des Marechaux and nearby.
