Description: Set in an intimate side street right in the heart of the Left Bank's gallery scene, Le Christine has an almost bucolic air. Redolent of the countryside, this bistro has been retrofitted into an ancient stables and still retains the rough-hewn walls, authentic wooden beams, and charming courtyard, now made chic in the inimitable French style. Like its sister restaurant, Chez Catherine, Le Christine finds a dedicated chef in the kitchen creating a short carte of superb traditional cuisine. Try starter of classic terrine of foie gras, main course of fillet of pan-fried sea bream on mushrooms, and dessert of kiwi soup with green apple sorbet.

We found Le Christine totally by chance one evening. We were looking at the menu before they opened and the maitre d' greeted us but apologised saying the restaurant was already fully booked. We asked if we had a table for the following night and luckily for us he did. That evening by the time we arrived was also fully booked. The food was wonderful. As a vegetarian its is sadly rare to have food of this quality available without prior warning! My mushroom tarte was rich, dark and earthy yet with such a light base. My husband had the duck, cooked pink, which they checked if he would be ok with knowing that the English sometimes don't have their meat as rare as the French. Each dish was created with finesse and care. The service was superb, welcoming and slick without being too stuffy. the restaurant is small and quite romantic, some couples some groups, some tourists, some French. A really mixture. It was probably our most expensive meal in Paris, but food of this quality elsewhere could easily be twice the price. I thought it was wonderful. A real treat to end a lovely holiday.

Le Christine was suggested by our hotel staff. It is located on a very quiet street just north of Blvd. St. Germaine, past many bistros and cafes. It's just next to the entrance to Hotel Christine, but is not owned by the hotel. Like many restaurants in Paris, there is a small staff attempting to provide an excellent, but limited, menu (this is not a fault, just an observation about small restaurants in Paris). We thought they did an excellent job. It is, as noted elsewhere, small, like many other restaurants of this type. Our service was attentive but not overbearing. Locals were eating here. We very much enjoyed the food. My wife raved about the chocolate souffle'. We enjoyed ourselves very much.

We got into Paris at 9:30 pm on a Sunday night, and our hotel recommended this place next door for a quick late dinner, calling the restaurant to keep the kitchen open for us, which Le Christine very graciously agreed to do so. It was a perfect dinner, likely the best meal of our week-long France trip. The restaurant, tucked away on a quiet, small street, has an intimate feel. The dishes were simple but really tasty, particularly the seabass I had, which was cooked perfectly. The dessert, a colorful swirl of raspberry sorbet, pistachio mousse, and raspberries on a wafer, was so good that I wanted to lick the plate.

We had the veal and a dark chocolate soufflé for dessert. The meal was great and the service was very good as well. This restaurant was recommended by our hotel concierge. We would not have found it otherwise so we were glad to get the recommendation. The prices were very reasonable for such a good meal. It was interesting that it seemed everyone near us was speaking English although from some different countries.
