I spent weeks researching and going over which hotels to stay in Paris and I finally decided on the the Park Hyatt Vendome. Yes it it is pricey, but since it was a milestone event, we decided to indulge and treat ourselves. I was so worried about the bad reviews I’ve read about this hotel when it came to the dated rooms or the obnoxious service, but for the the week we spent there, it was just sheer perfection!
- First of all, the location is perfect. It is a couple of blocks away from the Tuileries, Rue St. Honore, the Opera and the metros.
You are right on the Place Vendome and although it is not the Arc de Triomphe, you are not inundated with tourists.
-The hotel is not too old or dated or too modern. Even the sculptures, which I thought was too creepy in pictures, was in actuality, beautiful. The lights may be a little dim for some, but if you want a great night’s sleep, the bed is heavenly and the electronic blackout blinds are ideal. The room is spacious, considering Parisian standards and the bathroom with its shower/bathtub combination was great. My only problem with the shower was that the water kept overflowing out into the bathroom. However, they tried to remedy this immediately.
- The Hotel’s service was excellent and impeccable from check-in to check-out. They had welcome drinks and delicious macarons waiting in the room and toiletries which was a phone call away. I would especially commend their concierge services. Most of them were knowledgeable, warm, and friendly and one invaluable concierge in particular was Arthur.
- There were a few drawbacks however that I would just like to write about. There was only one socket in the room, which had a usb plug as well, and not a single plug in the bathroom. It can be inconvenient when you need to plug an iPad to watch movies in or a curling iron.
Lastly, the breakfast was a little disappointing and expensive, although there was a lot of variety to choose from. There is however, a very convenient Eric Kaiser Boulangerie only a few steps away.
- Having said this, overall, the positives outweigh the minute negatives. I would go back and stay at the Park Hyatt Vendome anytime and in a heartbeat. It is a beautiful, comfortable hotel, in a perfect location in Paris, with wonderful and very accommodating staff and service. What more could one ask for. I just wish I could stay longer.
