I wanted to stay in the Montparnasse neighborhood and I am so glad we chose Hotel des Bains. The staff was so nice and helpful. Four of us went together and we just wanted to snack on wine and cheese our first evening and they opened their parlour to us. Room was quaint, comfortable and clean. Metro is close so getting around was no problem.

A wonderful 'little' hotel with outstanding placement, within 5 minute walking distance of Gare Montparnasse and three different metro lines giving unparalleled access to Paris and the surrounding. Price is a bargain for the 14th district of Paris. All about location.

The Tour Montparnasse just around the corner gives you the best view of Paris (as well as the Effiel Tower) especially at sunset as you watch Paris light up. The area around the hotel has just about every type of dining that you could want with a 3 day a week bazaar at the end of the road for those unique gifting items for shopaholics.

The rooms are clean and have Air conditioning which is a benefit in the summer. Each have a unique decor which is a relief from the cookie cutter styling of Mainline hotels. The water pressure in the shower was strong, hot and relaxing which is a godsend after touring Paris all day.

Found the staff to be attentive and patient, especially with my wife whom just started learning to speak French. Found them very interested in assisting with our quirky needs. They are a pleasure to speak with and take their time as the situation presents.

If you are looking for a reasonable priced place with exceptional access to Paris, this should be on your short list to consider.

Room Tip: Rooms in back are quieter than in front, not that it is much of an issue given their location.

Situated in montparnasse, close to restaurants and transport links.

Best feature is it's location.close to a variety of restaurants.

Clean room but thin walls could hear next door talking and showering.

Expensive for what the hotel offers no usual extras in room but paying for location. Several hotels on same road.

Staff weren't very polite perhaps due to us being tourists.

But would recommend on cleanliness and location alone.

I have stayed here each year for 5 years. It is small and quirky but not in a bad way. The price is good and surrounded by a very vibrant French area with lots of lovely little restaurants and bistro's. I have eaten at a different place every time and not had to travel very far from the hotel. Transport links are very good in the area and you can have lovely walks in the area, A good route is towards Jardin de Luxembourg taking the back streets and heading to the river and crossing into the Louvre with its gardens.

We've stayed in the Hotel des Bains a number of times over the years and it continues to be an great choice in terms of value for money. This renovated hotel is a quirky kind of place in some ways, but the rooms are clean, the welcome correct and the location excellent. In spite of the fact that it is surrounded by the activities of the adjacent neighborhoods, Rue Delambre is relatively quiet and the hotel itself is as well.

There is a single 2 - 3 person elevator and a sometimes difficult to negotiate stairway, but the hotel is well maintained and up to date with Wi-Fi and renovated modern bathrooms. Each of the rooms seem to be different, but all that we've stayed in are pleasant. The owner is very cordial and the all the staff with whom we've had contact are polite.

The breakfast is a bit pricey at about 10,50 Euros, with a small buffet, but the bread, croissants and other pastry fresh and tasy and the coffee good. Finally, there is plenty of Metro and bus transport within very easy reach.

Room Tip: Rooms in the back are going to be quieter, however the Windows are reasonably soundproof and there is central air if you don't want to leave them open.
