If you aren't exactly an arts aficionado, I would recommend booking a tour (I found an excellent 3 hour one on Viator). We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this museum since the guide knew the important things to see, which can become quite an arduous task in the largest museum in the world! We stayed on after to see some additional paintings we were interested in but the introductory visit with a guide was super helpful!

Okay, again - you are in Paris, you will go to the Louvre. Unless you are a huge Art History Major, you will likely be like the most of us, follow the signs directly to the Mona Lisa and end up disappointed like most people to realize it is so small and not very impressive. Sorry, but again, unless you understand the nuances that make this an amazing work of art, it is just a small picture. You can then wonder around and see several other masterworks, many that will be far more impressive than Mona. It is possible to spend hours or even days in this Museum and I do believe that it is an amazing collection of art. Enjoy, get your beautiful nighttime photo of the pyramid lit up at night and add it to the scrapbook (about the same size as the Mona Lisa).

They only brag about the Mona Lisa, but there are SO MANY CLASSICS that are housed here. It's quite breath taking as an art major to see one of the great works of history so up close and personal. You could easily spend an entire day here, so plan accordingly.

Show up early and get tickets online. Get the audiotour, but don't use the walking guides. Amazing visit. Wish we had spent more time at the Louvre.

It's of course famous for Mona Lisa, but it has several other artistic pieces which deserve more attention. Finding a good guide is the key as they can make the experience amazing.
