We stumbled upon Le Pre-Sale our first night in Paris and entered a small welcoming restaurant. We were the first customers at 7 pm, but it soon filled up. The owner spoke very good English and took great care of us Americans. The meal was one of the best ever. My party of four agreed, including the Parisian. It was a great way to start off a holiday in France. No meal matched up after that.

Tried the place after reading reviews. Good small restaurant with a nice fixed selection of food. Enjoyed a good three course meal and wine in a nice atmosphere with good service. Would definitely return.

We decided to give this to us new restaurant a try as we read the good reviews on it - and were definitely not disappointed. They offer a 3 course formule with good choices for EU28, fronted by an amuse bouche greeting from the kitchen of a tiny mediterranean salad with goat cheese, lambs lettuce, tomatoes and olive - nicely done. Their famous appetizer is the couteau shell fish and of course we had to give this a try - it was definitely delicious, the first time I tried this shell fish, tough my Chinese spouse was familiar with it. The tartar of avocado, mango and Granny Smith apple was excellent as well. We also enjoyed the bar/seabass and one of the specials of the day, a magret de canard. Deserts of Tiramisu and Panna Cotta nicely rounded off the dinner. Service was friendly and competent and the ambience in the restaurant joyful, lively and table neighbor conversation-inducing as the tables are quite close together. Overall a great experience, this might very well become one of our go-to restaurants when we visit Paris.

The restaurant is no more than 10 minutes walk from the Place d'Italie but it's a world away in style. No English menus or fast food and at least while we were there not a tourust in sight. We didn't need to book, but we did arrive very early at 19:40. By 20:15 it was packed. It's tiny and you mustn't mind the tables being close to each other. The menu is traditional simple French cuisine. We enjoyed every mouthful.
