The Mercure at Reims was easy to reach from the Autoroute and a convenient stopover for our trip south through France. The hotel has both over- and underground parking and there are also spaces on the roads nearby. Reception was efficient and convenient and, when a problem arose with the room, an alternative of the same standard was provided immediately without any fuss. Both rooms had fridges stocked with soft drinks, complimentary boxes of cosmetics, accessible power sockets , free WiFi and a functional wet room. The room was impeccably clean and we had a good night's sleep in a comfortable bed..
The best point, for me, was the breakfast buffet the following morning with its range of juices, coffee/tea, cereals, fruits, yogurt, croissants, pains au chocolat, breads, cheeses, cooked meats and, presumably for the British, cooked eggs, bacon, sausages etc.
The Hotel is an easy 5 minute walk to the cathedral and surrounding bars/restaurants.
The hotel contrasts violently with the Mercure I'd stayed in in the UK two days earlier. Highly recommended, will be back.More
