We stayed only for one night on our way back to the UK from the South of France. The hotel is beautiful. The lady that greeted us the reception was lovely, she showed us where we were on the map, pointed at where the restaurant we booked was and told us about some Champagne houses we could check out. Everything was great, however we found that paying €40 for a buffet breakfast for two people was outrageous. Especially when you have already spent €230 for the room. I would have not complained about the breakfast if it had a fixed menu of lets say omelette or eggs freshly made for the person ordering and more hot food, rather than having the eggs in a food warmed that where not appealing at all, few cured meats, croissant and breads. I was not impressed with the breakfast!

Hotel Eugene was a comfortable hotel with lovely rooms. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms well appointed and there was plenty of space. Fewer signs about not taking the products in the rooms would have been more classy though. Close to the champagne houses on avenue de champagne.

We stayed in a superior room, and there was nothing you could fault. Large comfy (firm) 4 poster. Beautiful newly refurbished bathroom. If I was being picky, it was quite tricky to access the shower in the bath with the big shower screen, but that should only put off people with mobility difficulties. Our private outside terrace was a nice little oasis. The pool area looked nice, but as we only paid a flying visit, we didn't get to use it. We did have breakfast. Having paid €280 for the room, I didn't realise breakfast wasn't included, so it was a bit of a shock at an extra €40. Reception staff were very helpful and made sensible recommendations for places to eat and then booked it for us. Mercier Champage is next door and worth a visit too

Room Tip: We had room 14, which was excellent, with it's own private terrace and large comfy four poster

We had a lovely large room on the top floor. The bathroom had a bath with a shower over it. The bed was large and very comfortable. The bed and the pillows were amongst the best we have had in a hotel. The windows gave us a great view of the hills and vineyards. The staff were excellent, very friendly and all of them knew which room we were in and got our key ready as soon as we walked through the door. The outside pool terrace and pool were lovely and very welcome at the end of a very hot day. We didn't bother with breakfast as we don't eat much and we thought €19 was pricey if we just had a bowl of cereal.
Tea & coffee is not supplied in the room but if you ask for a kettle and cups they will be supplied . We took tea bags from home (having read other reviews) and kept some milk in the room fridge.
The only slight niggle was the wifi as the only place we could get a signal was by the breakfast room. We could not connect anywhere else in the hotel.
The hotel is a 15 minute walk into the centre of town. It's a lovely flat walk past the elegance of the champagne houses.

This is not a cheap hotel, but you pay for the best.

Check in is fast and attentive. The staff will follow you to the room and tell you a little about the hotel and servces.

They have a free parking for your car. One room, one car and the parking area is close to the hotel and closed during night (code).

The room is, well large and lovely. We had one with both tub and shower in the bathroom and it was lovely to take a bath after a long day visiting Champagne houses. The bed was fantastic.

Breakfast is wonderful and they have all you need. Staff is attentive and close but not to close.

The hotel have a close by bar. We didn´t visit it, but there is one.

The location is on Avenue de Champagne, but a 10-15 minutes walk to restaurants and shops in the centrum. But it is a nice walk, passing by all the big Champagne houses.

Wifi is free and good.

If you want to take a swim, the hotel have an outside pool and a beautiful garden.

If you want a little bit more, this is the hotel for you.
