Really nice park with fountains and small kids were having fun running around in the water. It was really Hot Summer Day so we sat under the trees.
There was a Carousel and crepes. Near the train station

Near the end of our day trip to Colmar, I was occupying us on our walk back to the train station by picking out monuments from an annotated map. One of them was this park. We found the sculptures surrounding the central fountain to be not of the highest quality. But perhaps this is because we had seen other public art created by Frederick Bartholdi, one of Colmar's native sons who of course is also the designer of our Statue of Liberty - sculptures that are much more attractive than the ones in this park.

Beautiful peaceful and serene park. Has a crepe vendor, fountain, statue and beautiful green space to relax, play an outdoor sport on or have a picnic

On a sunny October day the narrow street of Colmar were very busy and we soon felt the need to take a break from the touristy sightseeing. So we crossed Boulevard du Champs de Mars and Place Rapp into the largest city park (which is still rather small), called Parc du Champs de Mars. A great spot for a picnic! We took a walk along the beautiful alleys lined with linden trees, offering lovely perspectives on the Bruat fountain and the impressive Préfecture building at the other end of the park.

In fact we enjoyed walking so much we went on to explore the other green areas of Colmar: the small Parc Méquillet along Rue Camille Shlumberger – ideal for children because it is totally enclosed and has a playground – and the lovely Parc du Château d’Eau further south where we had a look at the historic water tower, the St Martin’s Circle, the Court of Appeal and the Bartholdi Monument before returning to town for some more sightseeing.
