Description: Blending European brasserie dishes and timelessly elegant surroundings, Browns Bar and Brasserie Manchester champions an informal yet refined concept. Renowned for indulgent twists on classic comfort food recipes, Browns has offered trademark favourites since 1973, as well as choices from the specials board or the market fresh fish of the day. Showcasing striking design features and historic or listed buildings, Browns restaurants are a refined yet relaxed dining spot, at any time of the day. Designed by Charles Heathcote in 1902, it's a lovely example of Edwardian baroque architecture with some beautiful art nouveau detailing, particularly in the wrought iron work. We're right at the heart of this friendly and welcoming city centre - just 5 minutes walk from Piccadilly Gardens.

I have a soft spot for Browns and have enjoyed their food in Edinburgh, Newcastle and across London. When I found out there was one in Manchester I was keen to try it out. I wasn’t disappointed. The food was the usual great quality from Browns and the building was superb. Not fitted out as well as the Edinburgh branch but impressive nonetheless.

Recommended.

We stumbled across this gorgeous place while passing time waiting for our table at Jamie’s. It is just a gorgeous old building with a fantastic atmosphere. We only had one drink there but I could’ve sat there all night. Will definitely visit again.

Being out in Manchester we thought we would call into Brown for old times sakes as we had not been in a while. We were only having a drink but we were really disappointed. You don’t want to arrive to people blocking the door way while they have a smile .The bar was wet from spilled drinks the tables had not been cleaned and I think it’s time for a face lift the seats were ripped. The bar staff were not well presented. So dad used to live this place

Three generations of our family went here for Mothers Day.I had looked around for somewhere nice to eat for my mum,my daughter and myself. We chose to go here because they advertised 2 courses for £19·95 with a complimentary glass of Champagne and a Sanctuary Spa gift for all mums.We thought that this was a lovely little extra touch. The food was ok,one of the starters was unavailable but what we had was nice, the mains were also nice if a little dry,I had to ask for more gravy and we weren't offered any sauces,ie.horseradish or apple sauce. We weren't offered the complimentary Champagne,I actually had to ask for it which was really embarrassing, and when we got the bill we had been charged for it! This was rectified when I challenged it but left us feeling disappointed and spoiled the night. There was no sign of the gift and no explanation of why it wasn't given.Overall the night which my 75 year old mother had been looking forward to all week, was disappointing and although the food was ok,the service left a lot to be desired.

We chose Browns Manchester for a Mother’s Day meal today...10 out of 10 for making my mother feel second class, it seems if you chose the cheaper Mothers Day Menu you were given a glass of prosecco and a gift ( by the way no one explained that) and if you chose to spend a fortune as our party did on three courses and several drinks to celebrate our mother she wasn’t entitled to be treated as other mothers. A Mother is a Mother......hang your head in shame BROWNS.
