“Great views of Manchester”
Review of Cloud 23 Bar

Decided to try Cloud 23 for a drink while we were in Manchester as we had heard it was a good view of the city and it was. We had a window seat so we could enjoy the views. We went mid afternoon and it was quite busy but had a nice atmosphere. Cant comment on the food as we just had drinks and shared some crisps.
My husband had a beer and i tried the ice cream cocktail, it was really nice in flavor but was missing the hundreds and thousands which was a shame as would have added to it.
Its a nice bar to visit and worth it for the views. Quite expensive though.

Visited Cloud 23 at 11pm on a Thursday evening when it's not as busy as a tactic to get a window seat without paying the guaranteed window seat price of £10pp (it worked).
I came with my partner and we ordered the following cocktails: pixelated porn star, the fleur de lis, directors cut and the bittersweet sympathy. All cocktails were well presented, tasty, and had an appropriate amount of liquor in. The only disappointment was that they had run out of the doughnuts which usually came with the fleur de lis.
The bar itself looked stunning and of course had an incredible view over the city. It's the view you're paying for, as £12-£15 for a cocktail is quite expensive.
Although I didn't order it myself, I'd stray away from the "up, up & away" cocktail, as you're just paying an extra £10 for a balloon.
Overall it's a stunning venue with yummy cocktails! I can't comment on the afternoon tea (which seems to have many negative reviews), but if you have a special occasion and are wanting a few fancy drinks then this is the place to go.

So we booked cloud 23 as an Easter treat for me and my sister, I had never been to Manchester and I was very excited to have views of the city...that was the only thing good about it.
We ordered the afternoon tea and decided to go for the champagne afternoon tea...YOLO and all that. The champagne was delicious but it should be for £10 a glass. The afternoon tea however was the worst! Stale bread, an inch size wrap with some grated carrot and the hardest chocolate cornflake cake I have ever eaten - we even asked if they had been bought from Greggs. I mean, chocolate cornflake cakes for afternoon tea? That cost less than £1 to make. The latte I had was lukewarm at best, the other cakes were average, biscuit base on one completely over baked and the scones were chocolate chip???? That’s a pain au chocolat surely?! Please don’t pay for the afternoon tea, you will be disappointed.
I absolutely can’t fault the views they were outstanding, that is clearly what you pay for...£35 for some stale bread, Greggs cakes and a nice bit of champers.
Our server was delightful, she was lovely but the rest of the staff could crack a smile, it won’t hurt.
It’s an expensive experience not to be repeated, it’s a shame as they could do it so well. I have had far far better afternoon tea for less.

My friend had always wanted to try the afternoon tea at cloud 23, so for her birthday I thought it would be a nice treat, I decided to pre book and pre paid for the champagne afternoon tea at £35pp, but we were both left feeling robbed! The whole package we felt was not substantial for the price and especially for a hotel of its class, one sandwich in particular which was just a little bit of grated carrot on a tiny bit of a wrap, and also one of the deserts was a little chocolate cornflake cake! which I’ve made dozens off with my children’s when they were little for hardly no cost at all! We also had to remind them half way through to bring the champagne, and when we had finished they also brought us another bill for the champagne afternoon tea, which I had already paid for in advance! The only good points was the view and the staff, in which the majority seemed polite and friendly, I have previously been to a champagne afternoon tea at the Shankly Hotel in Liverpool and after having a lovely experience where we could not fault the choice and quantity of the package, the Hilton was a extremely disappointing experience.

So we took our sister for a surprise visit to Cloud 23 for her 50th. Afternoon tea and we were all so excited. Arrived and was overwhelmed by the wonderful views across Manchester. It was so nice and we were seated in a lovely spot by a very friendly concierge. Champagne glasses filled and 4 extremely happy faces. The atmosphere was great. The place wasn’t overcrowded but was busy enough to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. Everything was perfect EXCEPT for the food. It arrived wonderfully presented and looked fantastic but I felt it had been created some hours previously to keep up with demand. The sandwiches had started to harden on the outside - like when you’re at a buffet and go back for seconds and the bread has started to curl. It hadn’t got to that stage but it kinda surprised me that a place like this and at a price of £35:00 per head could provide anything but perfection but sadly that was not to be the case. The chocolate brownie I felt could have been celebrating a birthday of its own too!! Very dry very small and very tasteless, the scone was just margarine (not even your best butter) and no clotted cream!!!.

All in all we had an amazing couple of hours with lots of laughs and lots of cocktails. And speaking of cocktails. Birthday girl got one for free however when we got the bill it was added on so not so free after all. We didn’t want to make a fuss as our day had been so lovely. But felt it was out of order to do this. I am sure we will return if only for a beverage or two. Definitely not for the food.
