Site itself was ok with a great Park for kids. Cockerels woke me in the very early morning, but family slept through! The toilet facilities were poorly serviced. Two soap dispensers in the ladies were not enough for a site that size.

Dear Guest
We are sorry to hear you found our toilet and showering facilities poorly serviced, we have since asked our cleaners if we have any more available and we have, following this we are looking at putting some more up. The park is only usually as busy as that 4 times a year over the bank holidays but we will look at how we can make things better for those busier periods.
We are happy your children liked our play area, thank you for your review we take on board all feedback, we do hope to see you again
Kind regards

My partner bought a Groupon deal which entitled us to a 2 night stay in a glamping pod which we decided to use from 9th-11th May. Not only did we pick the most amazing time for weather but we couldn't recommend the whole experience any more.
Firstly as we arrived we were greeted by a friendly & helpful lady on reception and check-in was a breeze. The actual site itself was beautiful and very well maintained. We were never woken up by the resident chickens & cockerels, if anything they added to the whole experience and would be a shame to 'get rid' as some reviewers have suggested (the chicks were especially cute)!
This was the first time glamping for us both & in all honesty i was not looking forward to the communal toilets and showers as i am very private and wary of cleanliness but again, we both had a very pleasant surprise as the toilets & showers were clean and hardly used by those who were using the site for their caravans.
The actual glamping pod was again such a great base. The appliances were great for our needs of just a morning coffee and cutlery was provided, although we brought our own. The 'bed' was also comfortable and huge when put together- only only niggle was the noise when you have a fidgety sleeper next to you as the wooden boards were noisy.
All in all it was a 5* experience from start to end and the amazing weather just made it better. I was apprehensive due to the recent *not so great* reviews but do yourself a favour and don't take these into account and certainly don't let them put you off. Coming from a person who is only used to staying in hotels, me and my partner can't wait to visit again and will be booking for the summer!

Room tip: We stayed in pod 4 which was great

I was unfortunately there over Easter. Pitch seemed good. Took my dog to dog walk (tiny space) whilst hubby set up. The 2 bins were over flowing with poo bags. On returning I was met by chickens on our pitch!! We couldn't let our dog out in case she hurt one. Our Daughter couldn't play out. We were awoken at 4.15am by one of the Cockerells... tired I went to Reception and they were fully aware of the issues with the chickens. They offered me another pitch 6 places up which was not big enough for my caravan, the last would have known that if she had come to see! Basically these birds are being fed by seasonal pitch owners... the lady behind us was refilling the bird feeder (I actually saw her twice)but denied it to reception. The toilets were dirty and cold. They were used as a hang out for teenagers at night. The park looked good but was dominated by seasonal pitch children. I was actually on a respite weekend away and was looking forward to relaxing with my family but came home shattered and stressed!!! I would not recommend this site to anyone and feel that they should be refunding the near £100 it cost us to stay there!. I did inform reception I was not happy but to be honest they had my money and that was that. My pitch was 57.

Dear Guest
We are sorry to hear you did not enjoy your stay with us here at Royal Umpire park. The weekend just gone was bank holiday Easter weekend, being a family holiday park we were fully booked so it was busier than it would normally be.
The dog bins were brought to the receptions attention, as soon as they were notified a phone call was made to the parks groundsmen to make sure these were all emptied when they were emptying the bins on site.
We have chickens on site who are free range and part of our farm, we are located within in the countryside and do have a farm home to horses, chickens, cockerels and geese. We are aware of the cockerels making early disturbances and are in the process or re-homing some, a member of staff from reception did go and speak to the seasonal customer who was allegedly feeding the chickens, and ensured they stopped off at various other pitches on site who were spotted with bird feeders or feeding chickens to politely ask for them to not feed the chickens as we are trying to encourage them to go back to the farm. We do have a monthly news letter which we send out to all of our seasonal customers and we will make sure we put something in this month about not feeding the chickens.
With the park being fully booked it is hard to move bookings about to offer alternative pitches, on this occasion we had a pitch we could give you but as stated your caravan was slightly to big for that particular one.
We will look in to why the toilets and showers were dirty and cold, they are cleaned every morning and we have park wardens who check our facilities on a regular basis, our facilities were getting a lot of use over the weekend but we will make sure more checks are done over busy periods.
Here we are dedicated to providing great customer service and recognize that all of our customers are here to relax and enjoy their holidays with us. If there is an issue we aim to act quickly, in this case the bins were emptied, customers found feeding the chickens were spoken to and the reception staff did manage to find a pitch as an alternative but unfortunately it wasn't big enough.
We do apologize that you felt stressed after your stay this is not the sort of guest experience in which we want our customers to feel.
Thank you for your review we take on board all feedback and as stated above we are looking more in to what we can do in regards to the chickens
Kind regards

I will start with the good points and that is its in a lovely location for visiting lots of north west attractions. Pub over the road serves beautiful meals! Arrived for our pitch at midday but unfortunately the occupants hadnt vacated so we were asked to wait in our car. After 2 more trips into reception we eventually got told they would have to give us a different pitch 40 mins later!! Not a good start. The toilets were filthy dirty, showers were disgraceful covered in hairs etc. No hot water on the saturday which I did complain about. Bins were overflowing all the time. We felt like complete outsiders based between perminant residents. The children on the site wouldn't allow my children on the swings etc. as they 'belonged' to them they lived there!! My 16yr old daughter was too intimidated to go to the toilet on her own as groups of kids seemed to constantly hang around the toilet block. Noisy kids & adults in & out of each others caravans late into the night, cockrels crowing constantly. We didn't dare say anything while we were there, payed almost £100 for bank holiday weekend & it was awful. If we hadnt had days out pre booked we would have left!!

Dear Guest
We are sorry to hear you did not enjoy your stay with us here at Royal Umpire caravan park. Firstly we would like to apologize for the delay within your check in, a member of staff went to see the customers who were still on the pitch yourself was due to go on, and stated check out was 11, we were fully booked over the bank holiday and the customers due to go on the pitch were already here ready to check in. The customers apologized and stated they were just finishing washing up and will be vacating the pitch. Once the reception staff had got the feeling that the customers on the pitch were not coming within the next 5-10 minuets they checked the system to see if it was possible to move a couple of bookings around to be able to get you checked in sooner, this however is not as easy as it sounds, being fully booked we get a lot of customers here who make requests when booking, they may request a certain pitch, request to be near facilities or play area, request to be away form the play area or they may have a twin axle which requires a larger pitch. Once the reception were able to change your booking you were informed straight away so you could be checked in.
Our toilets and showers are cleaned every day and we have checks in place via our wardens through out the day to ensure our facilities are kept clean and things such as toilet rolls are stocked up. Our bins are also emptied daily, with our site being fully booked they can get full rather quickly, we will look in to the above and see if there is anything we can do to improve things and maybe increase the times our facilities are checked over busy periods.
We are not residential here but we do have seasonal customers who are here most weekends and school holidays. We can not stress enough to our customers how important it is if there ever is a problem for it to be reported, whether it is with the reception staff within office hours or to the park wardens out of office hours we simply cannot help to resolve or deal with any issue if we are not made aware of it at the time it is going on, whether it is 2 in the afternoon or 3 in the morning we have round the clock staff available to be contacted if there are any issues.
We apologize again that on this occasion you did not have a great guest experience with us. We do take on board all feed back and will look at ways that we can improve certain areas to prevent certain issues from occurring again.
Kind regards
R.Rust
